Yankee Rally 2022, June 23-26, Catskills, NY

Yankee Rally 2022 will be held June 23-26, returning to the Catskill Mountains of New York.

The rally committee for 2022 consists of Mike (BearBait), Christine (Woodswoman), Chris (Sixpack), Bryon (pbryon), and Jamie (Stormrider).

We will be using a motel just a couple of miles from the one we used in 2010-11, to wit:

Red Ranch Inn
4555 NY Rt. 32
Catskill, NY 12414
www.redranchmotel.com
Email: [email protected]
Phone: 518-678-3380

The Red Ranch Inn has given us a rate of $279 for Thursday through Saturday nights for rooms with either two queen beds or two double beds. The facility has a few rooms with three beds, kitchenettes, etc., which if available could be had for slightly more money ($10 per day more for three-person rooms). Those arriving before Thursday will be extended a “rally rate” for their extra night(s). Those arriving after Thursday — ask the motel.

The motel has 40 rooms altogether, and has agreed to hold a block of 20 rooms for the VR until June 1, 2022.

Rooms are equipped with mini-fridges and hair dryers; some have microwaves. We think they also have tiny coffee makers, but we don’t guarantee that. The rooms we inspected seemed rather dated, but clean.

The property has mostly blacktopped parking, with a few areas of good, dry gravel. There is ample outside space for a campfire gathering, games, and general shenanigans. There is a full-sized swimming pool. And right next door to the Red Ranch is the popular Rip Van Winkle Brewing Company, which serves good Italian-American food as well as its own craft beers.

You should reserve your room by calling the motel, and mentioning that you are with the Volusia Riders group to get the agreed rate. It might be possible to reserve online, but you would not get the rally rate.

Note: The group that owns the Red Ranch also owns several properties in the Lake George area. Like all hospitality businesses lately, they are desperately short of help and hence are not prompt about returning phone calls, we have found. Persistence and patience are recommended. (Also, be prepared for “Indian English” on the phone.)

Reservations may be canceled for a full refund of your deposit by contacting the management no later than two (2) days before your scheduled arrival.

We expect the Rally in 2022 to take its traditional form wherein some early birds arrive Wednesday, most arrive Thursday, and a few straggle in on Friday. We plan to provide a pizza dinner Thursday night, from the Brewery next door.

Group rides will be arranged on Friday and Saturday for those who are interested.

The committee will work on providing breakfast opportunities, which will most likely be similar to what was done in New Hampshire this year and in Lake George in earlier years. However, details will be announced later in one of the next few posts.

Those who do not avail themselves of the adjacent restaurant/brewery for dinners will find a variety of other offerings between 2 and 10 miles away in neighboring villages.

Fuel will be no problem; there are gas stations and convenience stores just a couple of miles down the road.

Looks like we're going to miss this year's rally.

Granddaughter is graduating the 23rd, which we have to attend, son asked me to come set up tents on the 24th for a graduation party at his house on the 25th.

I'll be calling on Wednesday when I'm back in the office to cancel :(

Dammit!!!

So folks can decide ahead of time.

Ill be taking out a group thursday and friday for those interested.

Anyone who wants to lead Friday is more than welcome to tape these to their tank too.

Thursday will consist at a stop at Prohibition Distillery then a couple of breweries on the way back.

Lunch will be lite as the places we stopping at do not have full menus, (mostly apps and a special)

Total distance is about 170 miles.

- Thurs Ride Out

Red Ranch inn to Bootlegger's Alley Cocktail Bar at Prohibition Distillery

- Thurs Ride Back

Bootlegger's Alley Cocktail Bar at Prohibition Distillery to Red Ranch inn

Friday will consist of a ride out to The Old Schoolhouse restaurant in Downsville.

We will ride down one side of the Pepacton Reservior on the way out and the way back.

Definitely a curvy / slightly technical ride), but lot of fun !! (we’ll let the sport bikes get in the front for the 16 mile run)

We will stop for a break and cold one at the Woodstock brewery.

Total distance is about 160 miles

- Friday Ride Out

Red Ranch inn to The Old Schoolhouse Inn & Restaurant

- Friday Ride Back

Hey Folks!!!. Haven't posted in a while due to the following. Had to place my stepfather in a nursing home... Alzheimers unit. And have moved my mother to a retirement community. She is still in good shape but needed a different environment. This has all occurred in the last 30 days. I'm working with the V.A. for my stepfather, trying to get him placed with them. I've got so many balls in in air right now it's crazy. So...... We have had to cancel our much anticipated ride with all you Yankees.... We are very 😪.... Hopefully we can make a different ride with you guys in the future. I'm gonna try to get on here a little more often when things settle down. Ride safe and have fun everyone...wish we could be there. We were really looking forward to meeting everyone.

So I just called to cancel my reservation. She had my name in the system, but didn't see a reservation? After a few frustrating minutes, I said I never got an email confirmation, a couple minutes later, she said....ok....your cancelled.

Not really sure if she ever found my reservation.

Maybe double check before you go if you never received an email confirmation.

sorry to read you are having to do what you have no choice in doing... hopefully your mother understands and is happy where she is. Sorry you won't be joining us but definitely understandable and hopefully the next time things will be better. Take care...my wife has been dealing with a similar situation with her dad. He's miserable and doesn't understand why he can't live at home

OK, I think we have arrangements for the following:

—Fire bowl (thank you, RellaLou)
—Fire wood (BearBait & Woodswoman’s private stock)
—Folding tables (thank you, DugLaura and Vortex1x)
— Pop-up tents (thank you, DCinCT and Vortex1x)
— Cornhole set (thank you, Sixpack)

If anybody else has a second cornhole set they could bring, it would certainly help the annual tournament to run more smoothly.

Private stock, you say??? What species and year? In case you didn't know, I'm somewhat of a firewood sommelier. ;)

I'm not bringing a trailer this year so I won't be bringing an EZ up and such.
I haven't ridden in a year since before mom fell and I broke my leg so I hope I still remember how to ride.
Anyone want to buy a bike
