What just happened????

I was in the middle of replying to a post, then the screen went blank. Now it is coming up with an all new UI and nothing is in the same place? Whose bright idea was it to cut in a change in the middle of the day?

Sorry but I think the new set up sucks. Too much garbage appearing on my screen now. I am all for change but this is too much for my liking. Some times the K.I.S.S approach is better.

I will play around with this but I went into the settings to classic view and it is not the same . Sorry 2 thumbs down from me. The Photos and stories on the first page make it look like a big Ad campaign I almost left immediately thinking this an advertising site for some motorcycle store.

This is one of my most visited forums because it WAS easy on the eyes and easier to navigate than many of the other forums.

I don't have a problem with the advertising on the home page. I'm never on the home page very long so I don't see much of it. This place was run for a long time without advertising but it costs money, more than some realize. Advertising pays the cost of keeping current.

But I remember the last time we updated the look, there was a lot of discussion about how the page was to look. I think we even took a poll on some aspects of it and most people agreed that dark background is much easier on the eyes. I immeadiatly went back to Classic View. That bleach white background is just too much for these tired old eyes to handle. The other parts I can get use to.
We lost some members in the last change. [email protected] being one of them.
Sorry but, This sucks!!!
Have you checked the feedback thread for more info?

I like it! Takes some getting used to, but it is "clean & crisp" (And I don't do change very well, either!)

Well of course I did?......To me it still sucks so, I went back to the classic look. Had you not thought of members like myself and incorporated the old look into the new board I would be gone. End of story!

Some members have said it best that many of us donated to this site before to keep it running. When I was a long time Staff Member, I never received the free "Lifetime Member" banner above my name; Why, because I purchased it before I become a staff member........This site means a lot to me in the past present and future.

Now then, this is what I think of your efforts. You brought stability and a trouble free strong running board to all of us.....I thank you, the staff, and the owners (from the bottom of my heart) for supplying that to my friends and myself. Bottom line, nobody does anything for free. Without us, no money is generated your way and we would still have an old forum full of patches that could no longer be patched.

Thanks again for all your hard work in keeping this place running smooth and trouble free. I offer you another "Thanks" to your status! :biglaugh:

Well said,

We always give the community a way to revert, we know how change can mess up the culture on a site. I am a 12+ year veteran of forums and know how a community can be like your second home or your local hangout.

Reach out to me if you ever need an Admin or have a suggestion, I would be happy to help.

My Bat signal is @VS Jeff

Thanks,
Jeff

Viper,

Scroll down to the bottom left and pull the directional arrow down and select the second option for a medium dark gray background.

Additionally, the old phpbb page is available as well as the 2010 page.

I think it only shows for Admins, but let me know.

Creative would have to redesign them for the public since they are a little glitchy.

No med dark gray button on mine but I like the light gray version.
BUT the **** rightside is back!:crying2:
Get over it everybody...it will get better.

Here is a story everybody can relate to. I will try to keep it short.

Because where I work we have so many different IT systems and things to look up, every customer service employee should have two computer monitors. In my 30+ years working in IT I can tell you its a no brainier. When you work on a computer all day comparing data from multiple systems...2 monitors are better than 1. 3 are better than 2....and on and on up to NASA level.

You can't believe how much our customer service reps cried about it. Why do I need 2 monitors. Can I get 2 square ones instead of these 2 widescreen monitors. What am I supposed to with 2 monitors. Why do things have to change. This just happened over the last two days. I guarantee you in 2 weeks if we tried to take the 2nd monitor away from them we would have to wrestle it from their cold dead hands.

The point is...Change sucks! Change is not fun...but it is necessary. Does anybody really need a confederate flag? Does it really matter if you ride a gasoline powered motorcycle or an electric motorcycle. Its coming, get over it.

I hate change....I get it. Wait til your parents get too old to care for themselves. Your kids will get in trouble when you least expect it and throw you for a loop. Kaka happens all day long....get over it.

I have nothing against change at all. "The only difference between a rut and a grave is the depth" is an adage that I have adhered to all my life. However. If the changes make the visiting this forum less pleasurable then I will naturally be less inclined to visit it.

I now see more ads than I saw before. I have a sidebar that I did not have before and and a few other annoying little things that maybe will disappear with familiarity. To me it is a somewhat backward step, but that is only me. I understand that I have absolutely no right to have a say in it because I am a relative Noob who only contributes the time and words, no subscription generosity. But, the revenue from advertising comes about based on the amount of "floor traffic" so to speak. So non financially contributing members are maybe not just as important, but somewhat important, to the ongoing success of this site as the subs members are.

You cannot please all the sods all the time, especially this one, but at least you are allowing us to have a little rant about it for a while.:biglaugh:

Coops.

Well said man, this is the exact scenario I see after 200+ conversions on our network.

If someone tried to take my second widescreen I would burn or smash things.

I have stopped checking this site with my phone as I cannot get a view that works for me. The enhanced mobile view just takes to long to find my friends and their topics, it seems difficult to read and to use and the exit mobile view has left me trapped in a view filled with large photos and difficult to read threads with no mobile option for classic VR. I'll try to find a thread here from other mobile users and how they are solving the accessibility issue on their phones. I hope no one is posting important stuff about Chewelah, or Duffy or other important to me threads!

Too many features for someone who just wants to know what is going on with his VR friends.
