Hello everyone,
I'm looking for suggestions on 12v heated gear that my 04 VL800 can support.
got a trip coming up from NJ-SD in December

I need suggestions on footwear and gloves mostly.

Thanks everyone.

The VL800 charging system puts out 325 watts @ 5000 rpm. You have to carefully balance the draw of your heated gear against the electrical needs of the bike. If you pull too much juice, it will start running only on the battery and eventually die and leave you stranded. There are no upgrades to the charging system or the battery to let you use more accessories.

I used Gerbing heated jacket liner and gloves, with a dual controller on my 05 C50. I had no issues down to 22F.

I never got near max heat, always just above the lowest and than was plenty warm. High would have cooked me like a lobster.

If I was stuck at a long light, I just turned it off and let the bike idle. If you don't, you might just up the revs to keep the current at max.

My gloves and jacket at max drew less than 24 watts. It was not a big deal.
