We are in the process of planning a trip through Utah. On one part of the trip, we'll be going from Vernal UT to Moab UT. Mapquest shows it to be about the same distance and time whether taking Route 191, or taking Route 40 east to Colorado Rt. 139, then west on US 50.

We are more interested in scenery than travel time. Is anyone familiar with the area that could advise us on the more scenic route?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Moab is close to Arches national park, definitely worth seeing. If you have the time and don't mind a few more miles, Bryce and Zion national parks have awesome scenery, literally breathtaking. To me if the Grand Canyon is an 'A', Zion and Bryce are both 'A-' and only because they are not quite as big.
