The Volusia Riders Store is returning to business today, and VolusiaRiders patches are available again.

Veterans of the VolusiaRiders, com forum will remember that for many years a forum member operated the VR Store to supply our group with VR-themed merchandise. Unfortunately that operation was compelled to close down a couple of years ago, and since then there has been no source of VR merchandise available to VR enthusiasts.

But as of today the VR Store is back - albeit in a limited way - with patch and logo designs acquired from the store’s original owner. See posts below for the current offer of sew-on and iron-on VolusiaRiders patches, ordering instructions, and (soon) for the announcement of the availability of the remaining inventory of tee-shirts, etc. from the former VR store.

Questions? PM us through the forum, or email to [email protected].

Patches

Two varieties of 4-inch VR International Family of Riders patches are available: embroidered sew-on and woven iron-on (see photo below). Each diamond shaped patch measures four inches on each side.

The patch shown on the left is the more traditional embroidered version. It is slightly more brightly colored than the woven iron-on patch shown on the right, but the woven patch (which is not as muted in color as it appears to be in the picture) has slightly “spiffier” and contrasted colors, especially in the depiction of the winged motorcycle.

(We tested the adhesion of the iron-on patch by applying it to a rip-stop canvas duffel bag and sending that duffel through airline luggage-handling procedures back and forth across the Atlantic to Europe. It held perfectly tight.)

Patch prices, shipping included to US, APO/FPO and Canadian addresses, are $9.95 each for embroidered, $10.95 each for iron-on (add 8% tax - sorry! - for items shipped to an address in New York State). Inquire for shipping costs to other addresses. See ordering instructions below.

Iron-On Instructions

This worked well for us: heat your iron to the “cotton” temperature. Do not use steam! Place the iron-on patch. carefully located, on the garment you wish to attach it to. Cover patch and garment with an “ironing cloth” (a thin dishtowel worked for us), apply the iron with firm pressure, wiggling it about slightly, for 1-2 minutes. Allow the garment to cool for a couple of minutes, then apply the iron to the reverse side - again using the ironing cloth - for half a minute. Allow to cool completely and test adhesion.

We cannot guarantee that these iron-on patches will survive being run through the washing machine (not that we think they won’t, but our experience with other iron-ons has been disappointing) so we advise you to consider sewing down the edges if possible on garments that will be frequently washed.

As we said earlier, TheVRStore (new version) has acquired the remaining inventory from the old VR Store. Here we list what is available, in time for Christmas shopping.

Unlike patches, these items will not be sold with shipping included in the price. Also, in sized items, we often - in fact in most cases - do not have a complete range of sizes. So to order send us a forum private message or a regular email to [email protected] telling us what you want, including sizes when necessary, along with your shipping address. We will respond as soon as we can telling you availability and including a shipping charge, and then you can order using that information through our usual PayPal account.

Here’s what we have, with prices:

Coffee mugs, $5 each:

Keytags, $2:

Koozies, $2:

Old Style Logo Pins (US, Canada, International [shown]), $5:

CLOTHING: There is EXTREMELY LIMITED AVAILABILITY of the below items. Inquire directly and we'll let you know whether we might still have the style/size you want.

Women’s Tees, Crew Neck (yellow [shown] and black), $10:

Women’s ¾ Sleeve Tee (black/grey [shown] and black/pink), $10:

Women’s Tank Top (white), $10:

Just curious. .. what type of material was the iron on tested on?
Thanks
The iron-on patches were tested on the heavy canvas-like nylon cloth of a duffle bag type 'suitcase,' and on a lighter but still canvas-y material -- maybe nylon, maybe cotton -- in a folding camp (Kermit) chair. They ironed on to both quite well and, as stated above, the one on the suitcase survived airline handling across the Atlantic and back, for what that is worth.

I would suppose they would adhere equally well to lighter cloth, but am unsure of how well they might survive machine washing.

got my patches today...thanx....both look good...haven't decided which one will go on the rally chair...they are big too. good job.
I tried the iron-on on my (new) rally chair. So far, so good, but it hasn't been sorely tested yet.
