Stebel Horn Install Technician

Does anyone know of a good technician around Dayton Ohio that can install the horn for me.

I have no knowledge of wiring and really don't want to experiment .

FYI - on BikerHiway - they have a note that the horn is discontinued. company out of business...

Just installed my horn using this thread. It works great (after replacing a faulty relay).

Thanks to all that submitted the great info!

FINALLY!
I finally got the stebel installed. Too much on the plate lately so it has sat in a box for a couple months. After the jerk crossing into my lane yesterday barely reacted to the stock beep I knew today was the day.
Only hard part was locating the stock horn. Mostly because I am dumb but no directions I saw spoke of exactly where it was. Had to rewire the battery and beep it a bunch of time while feeling around to locate the puny vibration. After that it was a simple fishing trip to run the wires and all set.
Test BLAST nearly took my eardrums out. Dont think anyone but the true deaf could ignore me now!
Thanks to all those who posted positve comments and guidance, you people rock.

Haven't been here for a long while. I'm glad the write-up I posted years ago and this thread has been helpful.

Happy riding.

I just installed Wolo Bad Boy airhorn under the fork frame. Originally, I didn't know where to put it because I did not check the Vol blog until later. But the location looks nice so I just want to leave it there. I'm glad that some guy gave tip on wiring 14 gauge wire though wire tube so I'm going to do that today.

Here's my way in pix. I bolted it under fork where headlight/turnsignal bracket bolted on. I pulled out OEM bolt and put in longer bolt in with 4 nuts (1 nut secures the horn, 2 nuts locks in mid section as a "stop", 4th nut on top of headlight/turnsignal bracket tightened, all been threadlocked with blue locktite).

Here's my pix

I may plan on paint the motor section black to match my bike. :biglaugh:

I used the Eastern Beaver plug-and-play kit to install two Fiamms, but would also work on air horns. Money well spent, IMO.

I just finished installing wiring and at first, I didn't have spare 20 amps and use 10 amps which I have plenty. I put seat back on and fired up Vol and let it warm up. Then I headed out to Dump area so I can press horn button without annoying neighborhood. When I press horn button It went HOOOOKK then that's it. It won't honk anymore. I knew 10 amp fuse isn't goo enough. I rode back home and looked for 20 amp and found it in my truck that I don't use A/C because it's cold out. I transferred 20 amp fuse to horn fuse holder. After that I rode back and I tooted airhorn several times. Wow it's loud that I can hear left ear which I have residual hearing. Worth it! Now that I felt better having airhorn to get their attention to watch for me.

Has anyone done this on a newer cycle (2012)? I had the horn on my '06 and it worked fine. The 2012,however, IS a little different. The connector on the original horn has 3 wires on it...2 run together one of which goes to a diode. When I wired it up using the original horn wires the relay clicked but did not fire the horn. I'm sure I'll eventually find the solution but was just hoping someone else has already crossed this bridge and could save me a little time, and frustration.

Couple of things for a quick check. You say the relay did click, that's good, means the OEM wires to the relay are correct.
Using a meter can you read a good voltage from the battery to the relay, as well as voltage after the relay with the button pushed?
If you pull the two wires off the Stebel horn and hook to a meter you should see voltage when button is pushed.
If you do then the horn is bad.
If not then you have 1 of 2 problems, let's get the Negative covered first as it should be a straight shot from the battery to the horn. Hook a meter up to the negative wire at the horn and positive on the battery should see voltage if not then the negative wire needs to be replaced.

If you can read voltage after the relay but not at the horn then the wire from relay to horn is bad.
If you can read voltage before relay but not after then the relay is bad.
If you can not read voltage before the relay then the wire before or connection at the battery is bad.
Just walk it through step by step.

Mine was installed on a 2014 and it does work.

All the wires I ran are new, doesn't mean I couldn't have a bad piece of wire. I checked the horn directly and it works. I was wondering if the wiring with the diode inline might have something to do with it. I'll get back into it this afternoon sometime. Glad to know someone did it on a newer bike though, thanks.

Got it! I put a new relay on it and that did it. I was kinda suspicious that somehow the relay got shorted.

Thanks again Sleepwalker.

Stebel Nautilus air horn 2007 Suzuki C50

I took the two connectors off of the original horn and connected them directly to the relay. I then ran a wire from the relay to a fuse block that I installed under the seat. Then ran a wire from the 4th connector on the relay to the positive terminal on the horn. I ran a very short wire from the negative terminal on the horn to the bracket. The bracket is a steel corner brace. I had to enlarge the holes for the horn and the bike and cut off a piece of the bracket.
