Hello, First time user on this site.
I recently purchased a 2002 Suzuki Intruder Voulusia 800cc. The last 2 times I've road it after about 2 miles or so It starts to misfire, sputter, its very jerky, I looked down and the speedometer was violently jumping "in sync with the sputtering" up to 80mph and back down to 30mph ( I was only doing 30mph). If I hold in the clutch it will stop and if I rev with the clutch in it will backfire. I put fuel system cleaner in it and I thought it helped but I guess not. Seems to only do it when the bike gets hot or at least its only noticeable when its hot. Also when the speedo was acting up the fuel gauge and clock looked like they were flickering, resetting. The bike did die on me once but I was able to start again without stopping. I have a brand new battery in it. Also just installed under-glow and a shark mc600 sound system wired directly to the battery. If you have any ideas i'm open to listening to them.

Welcome aboard. Do you know anything about the bike in terms of how much it was ridden in the last several years? Carbs can get gummed up and if so, they likely need to be taken apart and get a good tune-up. Fuel system cleaner doesn't always do it for a really gummed up carb.

Well the bike has 71xxx miles so its been road alot. Havn't looked into anything yet. Good with cars and trucks still novice on bikes. Was going to check the battery first make sure its holding a charge. Then possibly look into plugs or coil packs see if its the cause of the misfire.

You have an electric issue. Check battery connections. Clean and tighten With a wrench. Not a screw driver. Check ground connection to frame. check voltage, Load check the battery.
