The LCD display on my speedomoter turned dark and bubbeled up form the sun over the years and I can no longer see it in daylight.
I was about to pull the trigger on a used one from eBay and noticed the speedometer from the carburated VL800 has a light for temp. where as the FI version has a temp/Oil/FI light. I wondered if there is different circutry inside and if I can use the speedometer from the FI bike on my carburated one. What do you think?
Maybe i'm making it more complicated that it should be but it's not a $20 part...

Totally different, sorry. They even changed the speedo within the Boulevard line. At some point they added a fuel level indicator. You'll have to find one similar to yours.
