Need a speedometer for my 2004 volusia. Ordered one that was supposed to work for 2001 to 2004 but I think it is for a newer bike and does not seem to work correctly. It has a fuel injection light which mine did not, and when i turn the switch on all I get is "chec" in the odometer window and the buttons don't appear to work. I assume it's looking for a fuel injector signal that is not there.
All I can seem to find are ones for 2003 or older. Does anyone know if any of these earlier ones will work ?

From 2001 to 2004, the VL800 was a carburetted bike. In 2005, to meet stricter air quality standards, Suzuki introduced fuel injection.

Your bike can ONLY use a speedometer from 2001 to 2004. Additionally, if you DO replace your speedometer, you have to file paperwork with your state's DMV that reports a mileage discrepancy. There is no way to reset the odometer to match your old miles and it is illegal to sell the bike with a mismatch.
