Does anybody have any ideas to cleam up that rear brake light assembly? I just think there is too much going on back there and I would like it to look more like a custom cruiser.

I was thinking of (1) moving my Kuryukyn turn signals to the rear fender brackets, (2) keeping the lay down license plat but moving it odwn some to cover some wholes, and (3) finding a single rear brake light that does not stick out as far as the stock one does.

I believe I can get it down to only two holes showing in the fender. I may just put bolts on them and a couple Chrome bolt covers that I have laying around to clean it up a bit.

Question is, does anyone know of any aftermarket rear brake lights that would work for this setup? I know Radientz has some but they do not have one that sticks out for me.

Thanks!!

Kuryakyn, and Custom Chrome. Many options there...

I was looking at Custom Chrome's tombstone light assembly for the back of my bike, but ended up going with kuryakyn's panacea taillight. Its a slantback, and it is slick. ALL LED, extrememly bright, automatically flashes when you hit the brakes, and built in LED turn signals right into the taillight! Couldnt beat that, plus its a slantback with a nice strip of chrome on it, Very low profile.

Takes some modifications though to make it fit, and I suggest getting a chrome ring for harley to tighten the gaps. I think ya could handle it though.

Hey 5th,

I did not even know Kuryaky made those. I will check into it. It would require some work but that is all I can do to the bike over the winter anyways...right? Do you have any picture laying around of it anywhere. I would love to see it.

Thanks!!

Domino,
Some got to see it at marcus dairy in July, others wont get to see it on the 6th of october. I never took any pictures, and now Its in the shop DOH! My stock one is back on with an LED bulb inside for now :(

Some things were loose and no one at kuryakyn told me that if it were my only source of rear turn signals, dont leave the signals on too long cause the load equalizer would become very unhappy... and by unhappy I mean hotter than the deepest pits of hell! It melted into my bike  because I left the signals on during a dry-test and went inside and had lunch :p ... well, 30 minutes later the load equalizer cracked its own casing and boiled its solders off until the connection was broken... now thast playin with
fire

So, I complained as some of you may remember, and this was the final solution. Now its at the custom shop, with its new controller and balancer, but being fitted day by day with some chrome harley mounts that are specifically meant for that lens shape, to try and mount it on the bike a little cleaner. I just have to wait till he finds the right something.

Del at the cycle shack is a great guy, he will help you make ANYTHING work, sometimes just takes some time. He will be getting involved in this site as our custom parts vendor in due time. If you want anything in the meantime, lemme put you in touch with him cause he really gets great pricing for me and will for everyone here on anything harley related especially, metric parts included.

ALL THAT BEING SAID

here is a link for your viewing pleasure :D

I ALSO suggest looking into these signals along with it, that work in conjunction with the controller... really cool stuff!

keep in mind, these signals are only inserts... they sell them for about any style signal you can imagine though, from our pancake style, to barons, to their silver bullets.

REAL QUICK, I'll tell you what these things do cause they dont explain it well: 8)

The panacea tailight is all LED, with built in LED turn signals. Its bright as heck and the best part is it blinks automatically a few times when you hit the brakes. Its a real attention getter! For the 150 bucks, you really wont go wrong in value, considering what those flasher units cost and what the taillight in LED costs for our bike from other places, you end up with free built in turn signals in a great looking taillight.

The panacea turn signal inserts hook up to the controller under your seat (everything pretty much uses the stock wiring, its great!) and then they act as running lights, brake lights, and turn signals all in one led package. The cool thing I liked most, is that unlike my turns signals that blink red, these turn signals (and the taillight) blink an Amber turn signal, and red running and brake lights. Thats what makes em cool.

Sorry this got so long, but its cool stuff it makes me happy :D

Domino, I have plans for the Kuryakyn bullets on the fender struts. I will take suggestions on whether to use the large bullets or the small. I have ordered a JP Harley Retro catalogue. I have my eye on the Harley retro "Bee Hive" brake light. I think that will work well with the style of the vol. I also like the looks of the brake light off of the Yamaha Road Star. I also have plans for the Kuryakyn mirrors with built in turn signals. I will post pics once I get all of this finished. I already have the lay down plate frame and have removed the rear reflectors. I agree that the stock look is just too busy.

Blucas,

Cannot wait to see how it turns out. I have the large Kuryakyns I believe and I am still shopping for the brake light. I may go with the tombstome from CustomChrome. It is noce and simple looking and LED to boot. We shall see though closer to the un-ride-able weather....

Domino, Have you see the Doss V-Style Rear Turn Signal Kit yet? I gotta have this. I just received a J&P Cycles catalogue in the mail today and the kit would look great on the vol. The bracket can be fitted with the Kuryakyn bullets on them. I think I like this much better than mounting the bullets on the rear fender. Doss also makes a matching V-Style Lightbar backet for the front. Hmm. I think I know what I want for Christmas now. :D Now if I could just decide on a brake light.
