The shift rod is adjustable. Therefore you can raise the shifter up high enough to get your foot between the shifter and floorboard...to up shift. I hardly use my heel shifter because I am lazy and don't like to move my foot.
don't know about the install . However heel and toe (H/T) shift is simple as stomping your foot!
Hard tap the the toe to down shift and stomp your heel to up shift .
A regular tap dance!
Wouldn't want a cruiser w/o a H/T shifter.
If you have big feet (12 and up)tho you might have a time placing your foot between the the 2 ends
I have Cobra boards on my 03. I do not have a H/T shifter and I did NOT have to adjust my shifter at all. I have a 10.5 shoe and have absolutely no problems shifting. I took a bit to get used to, but now I don't even notice it.
