There isn’t a bike shop in a big town like that which has a clutch cable in stock?? Or does the C90 require something oddball?
I called everything from Walmart to custom bike shops. Answer was the same everywhere. “We don’t have it, but can order it and get it here in X days”.

nothing particular about the clutch cable that I can see, other than a custom length. Thought about an emergence clutch cable repair kit from Amazon. But even that wouldn’t get here till Monday, and I’d still need to replace it as soon as possible.

oh well. got a ticket and am going to the Chiefs game. Not a bad consolation prize.

Finally got the hell out of Indy. It was an adventure all itself. First clutch cable didn’t work. The second one I had to drive to Cincinnati in a rental car to procure worked.

Made it to Dubuque, IA on a 12 hour marathon through Illinois. Damn Illinois. Your country roads are some of the best ever till you find the ones they are repairing with gravel and oil. Holy shit that would be ridiculous on Mario Cart.

Indy was a good time though. Lots to do. Serious bike culture. Not a lot of curvy roads, but if you want to be seen and appreciate a ton of bikes, it’s the spot.

Lost a week due to repairs. Going to have to pick up the pace or winter in the South.

Next up, Sioux Falls, SD on Saturday

A word of advice as someone who piled a ton of touring miles on his C50 - order another clutch cable now, you will eventually need it. Also get 3 or 4 of the clutch lever return springs, they like to break at random as well.

Steve (Paraquat) did a circumnavigation of the lower 48 on his C50 back in 2019. He broke two clutch cables on the trip, including the one that he had to get replaced in Gettysburg when we had a rally there in 2015. I broke mine on the Cherohala Skyway and had the change it in a thunderstorm.

Putting this in 2 hours places. There was a partzilla video on the clutch cable replacement that suggested using electrical tape to connect the engine side of the old cable to the clutch side of the new cable. Fished it right through.

Still had to take off the seat and free up the tank to get at a few zip ties, but turned an all day effort into a 30 minute run once I could get at the ties.

thank you partzilla!

Buddy and I tore down Sioux Falls. Not a lot of pictures cause they can use that shit in court.

Going to have to turn east. Nights hitting my the 30s. I call that a sign from gawd.

Got to Omaha for an overnight stay before heading to KC tomorrow (how bout them Chiefs!!!!)

Nebraska wind is next level wind. Or maybe it’s just because Nebraska had to put curves on their roads. Iowa and SD made their roads with rulers. Either way…holy shit. Luggage makes one hell of a sail in 25mph cross winds. White knuckle and hold on. Nothing else to be done.
