Had a guy who rides a Yammie cruiser stop me on Saturday. Said he'd never seen a Volusia before. He was going over my bike like it was from another planet! I get this from a lot of people. Seems no one is familiar with these bikes!

I've seen one Vol around this area. I like the fact that there aren't too many running around. Sure it's cool to come across one...but I'm savoring the fact that I've got a pretty unique gorgeous piece of equipment (my bike's not bad either).

It's funny--- I had mentioned in a few posts that I couldn't wait to see some other Vols on the road. I since have. However, I agree with you. It's neat having people come up to you asking about it or catching someone admiring it , trying to figure out what it is.
Oh, and, and I finally had someone ask "what is it, a 1500?".

Not seeing vols is great

8) Hey Bronco,
I can relate to that feeling. For the first couple of months after getting my Silver Lady people would look like it was something from an art gallery. I always got good feedback and would usually stand away from her at bike nights. The smile and stares of others was all I need to see. Something about a sweet machine will always get some attention.

I was coming out of the mall with my wife and some friends the other day. I had met up with them after running some errands, that I absulutely had to do on my own on my bike :). As we walked out my wife spied a Victory parked next to my Vol. Her words were "your baby is prettier!" I just had to smile.

Of course, she might be biased since she has taken a fancy to putting around our street in first gear. She doesn't know how to shift yet, and isn't really in a hurry. She just likes putting around. Besides, first gear doesn't mess up her hair (her words, not mine)!

Putting Around

Hey BriMan, you better watch out she's gonna take her away from ya as soon as she gets that gear shifting down. Then Katy, TX will have another Volusia rider!  Feel the ride!

I agree. There is not many on the road. I have yet to see another Vol here in Las Vegas. I can be found cruising every chance I get, Often on the Las Vegas strip. All those Harley riders are anxious to pull along side and try to figure out what, where, why and How. I just smile and grab my wallet

Sure, there are benefits to owning one of the best-selling bikes (like lots more accessories designed just for your ride), and I wouldn't mind it if the Volusia eventually falls into that category. But it really is nice to have people stop you in the parking lot or roll down their window when you're pulled up beside you at a stopsign/stoplight to comment on how great the bike looks.

On balance, I think relative obscurity is more fun.

I switched bikes with a buddy of mine and we rode for 30 miles or so back to his place. HIS wife was in the driveway and says "that one is prettier then yours". He made excuses that I have more stuff on it. I didn't care it felt real nice.

Vegasmary I grab my wallet everytime I'm on the Vegas strip too!! Briman, another option....buy her an '03.... yours is like you like it now. Volusias are sure great aren't they?

I get most oft the people who talkn to me about the bike at the Total(mini-mart) where I gas up. The best was:

What are your payments on that thing? When I told him I bought the bike for about $6500.00 I thought he was going to cream his pants!!!

Others:

It looks like the new Indian!
Have you ever had it right next to a Heratige Classic?
It looks like a Fatboy with that tank.
& at a stoplight:
What the hell is that thing, it looks like a Lowrider!

The best, though, is a friend of mine that rides a Nomad! When he was asked what it was, he said "a motorcycle." 8)

This past summer my wife and I cruised to the seafood festival ,. It at one of the shore towns right on the beach. 1000.s of cars and lots and lots of bikes. It like a fashion show.

Well we found a parking space and parked in one side of it and invited another bike to share the spot with us. Parking is a problem at these events. We parked they parked. I was locking the helmets to the bike and these 3 guys on Harleys by some miracle found a spot open up a couple of spots down. They parked. They commented that Indian really outdid themselves with the new bike. (yes the volusia) I have no stickers on the bike and had already done considerable customization. They went on for a few minutes.

Complimenting this and that. One even said he wouldn't mine trading in his Harley for that bike. Said he thought it was one of the nicest bikes around. Commented on how much chrome I must have put on it.

I said. You whats even nicer about the bike. I said its a Suzuki. Well you could have seen there teeth drop right out of their mouth. One said . man they make a nice bike. Another said. There bikes look more like Harleys then harleys. The third guy was speechless. You can tell he was taken back.

This happens all the time. The VOl is a noice loking bike. We ride with a bunch of guys on Sunday. One has a mauraurder, a few Harleys, A gold wing and and a honda rebel and honda something else.

One of the other wives was commenting how her seat sucks and our is so nice. We have the mustang seat. She lit into her husband why he spent so much for the harley compared to the Volusia it sucks. I defended him(he a guy right) and said that if he sells it , it s more of an investment.

My wife later told me the guys wife is really pissed on the Harley purchase. She wants him to get rid of it and get a Volusia. He had to wait like 11 months for a part to his new bike. He got hit at one time. They had to get it a a swap meet at Sturgis.

He was out of the riding for months and rode a friend extra bike. A 250 honda rebel.

What could I say.

Another time I pulled into Home depot. I just came out of the store and there was a real nice. Like an west coast chopper bike. One of those real custom hugh bucks bikes. All chrome and flames etc. Really nice. Like on the tv. or at the shows. One of those 50,000 bikes.

He said nice bike. I said really. I commented on the flames and beautiful job. He said NO the other one. Thats the one I like. I said wow that ones mine. He asked how do you get a license in NJ. I told him where to go etc. Then the guy on the custom came out. Jumped on his bike, never said a word, put his clam dip helmet on and started up the bike,. (gave me an instant headache) and he took off.

All in a day on the Volusia

what?

Black and silver, VH Pipes, vortex tips, tallsissy bar, peeled all the stickers off except "Boulevard tank" (contemplating) people wonder, positive so far ,alot of headshakes.Mostly really good comments like"sharp bike!" Dunno how to respond i'm used to criticism. Usually it's people who expect to see someone riding a Harley or something that looks like one only to discover....

I get a lot of "is that a 1500?" questions. Most think it is a Harley. Had a guy tell me he was saving up for a HD "like that". He even said he was a bout 1/3 of the way there, he had about $7000.00 saved up. He was stunned when I told him he was already there and then some. When I told him he could get the bike and still have cash for accessories with 7K., he said he was on his way to the Zookie store that next week. Haven't seen him since, so I don't know if he bought one or not, but hopefully we have another convert.

The Vol is definitely the cause of a lot of rubber-necking. :D

It is great having such a unique bike. I get lots of questions and comments too. Makes riding all the more fun.

My buddy who owns an LC1500 is actually contemplating buying a Volusia gas tank; chopping it in half; and welding it to each side of the LC's tank - because he likes the lines of the Vol so well.

Like the original post, I have yet to see one other Suzuki here where I live. I always see Harley, which is okay because there will be one in my future. I have seen a few Honda's and some Yamaha's. I also have many people say that it looks more Harley than Harley's (including some members of this board :D ). I would actually like to see some more and ride with them.
