Nice overnight trip to the mountains...

Left home Sunday about 9 AM in a light drizzle of rain and headed up Hwy. 321 to Blowing Rock, NC. By the time I got there, the sun was out. Stopped for fuel and a lunch sandwich to carry along, then jumped on the Blue Ridge Parkway south. Lunchtime spent resting in the shade and gazing out at the view. After lunch, made stops at Mount Mitchell and Craggy Gardens, then proceeded to Asheville where I left the Parkway and went to my family's cabin in Flat Rock, NC for the night. Great sleep after a perfectly-grilled ribeye and salad for supper. Up at 7 this morning, an hour's worth of tidying up the yard after breakfast, and I was back home by 1 PM. 353 miles total and perfect performance from the '09 C50.

Is it great to be retired and have health, time, a little money, and good bikes? Yep...

Another day trip I have done, and plan to repeat in 2 weeks, begins in Flat Rock, goes through backwoods roads to Brevard, up through the Pisgah National Forest to the Blue Ridge Parkway, then south to Maggie Valley for a visit to the Wheels Through Time Museum. Altogether a fine experience!

heading to NC to visit the one responsible for my gray hairs next week...while the wife and daughter treat themselves to a day at the spa, I may have to check out that museum.

You will not regret it! The "museum that runs", they have almost 400 American bikes on display, some of them the sole remaining examples, all of which are in running condition. Spend half a day there and you'll get to see bikes over 100 years old starting up, running, and being ridden! I have been going twice a year for 4 or 5 years. Seniors get in for $12, and I am all for that senior discount thing!
