how do i get rid of the recent discussion on the right hand side?

Scroll down the page, and to the bottom left, choose the classic page.
Next, click on the plus symbol at top, right, just above the recent discussions.
Now, go back to the new page, or one of the others, free of recent discussions.

6) The side bar can be hidden in your user options.
Click on my profile / user cp at the top right.
- click on edit your details on the left.
- Look for Show Sidebar on Forum Pages under Additional Information.
- Click disable and save.

I just edited my post above, fwiw.column is still there, i want it completely gone

Seems that with the new front page, you'll still lose that right side as compared to the other front page offerings.
Not certain if this will be permanent, just yet.
We need to give the techs some time to work their magic.

Yes - try clearing your cache and doing a log out/in and check the "remember me" check box next to log in info.will it ever remember my password?
