my cobra bars caused me to wreck lawsuit?

i have a 06 with cobra bars. went around a 90 deg corner turning left at around 30mph. started hearing scraping noise from the cobra bars & my front tire lost contact with pavement & the bike went down on the left leg. broke it in 10 places. would everyone that has had this happen to them or know of someone that it happened to please leave info here. i believe that there must be a design flaw. no way should the bars ever be able to hit the ground while your turning. i will be out of commission for 3 months. thanks for your will wishes. i would like to keep any postings here about it happening to others. i would like to talk to a attorney with some of the info i pick up here. everyone be careful out there with the cobra bars. once they start hitting your going down. i posted at general discussion so i could get the most response & everyone else can find out about the design flaw.

I think hes right no way something like that should happen . If you guys had a trashed leg you would'nt be saying the same thing . Products like that should have hours of testing to make sure this does'nt happen . Do you think a big company like Cobra cares about his leg ? All they care about is our money ..
it is hard to test for the owner stupidity. anyone can lean far enough that something will drag and you will fall over. Sooner or later we have to take responsibility for our own actions and not try to sue someone else for our lack of common sense. I just dumped my new vic when I stopped near a curb on a road that had been overlaid with asphalt several times it had a big crown in the road so when I put my foot down to hold the bike up, with a small amount of gravel in the curb no traction, I fell down. I guess I should sue the city, the construction company who didn't clean up all of the gravel, or maybe Victory for not printing in the owners manual to avoid that situation. Or I think I will fix the minor damage on the bike. realize my stupidity, and remember not to **** up again.
Owner stupidity is one thing but going around a corner a little to fast and ending up with a shattered leg is another . Who on here has'nt done the same thing while riding ?
I guess if a little too fast causes you to drag and fall over it is too bad that he got hurt but too fast for safety is still operator error.
Just accept that you exceded the ability of either the equipment or the operator. Don't expect everyone else who has insurance to contribute to your error. Or I guess he could just get in line for some EMPEROR OBAMA BUCKS!! That seems to be the solution for too many that just blame their own mistakes on something or someone else!!
Here's my take.

Suzuki makes engine guards that won't get you high centered if you decide to get aggressive in turns.

Cobra makes highway bars or freeway bars whatever you want to call them. They are made for normal riding on big roads.

Cobra bars are not called crash bars. If you think you are going to ride a C50 like a sport bike with the Cobra bars on you can then call them crash bars after you crash. You can't sue Cobra for operator error. That's just plain ignorant

Hope this helps 8)
bump?..........in the road

i have had my cobras on for a couple of weeks now, i still havent recieved anything from cobra or suzuki about scheduling my crash and settlement....

:(
Guess he also should put Ice in his McDonald's coffee :biglaugh:
Oh you say that Chris, but only because your Cobra bars caused you to go deer hunting!

It's called knowing the limits of your machine
(how far you can lean before those babies touch the ground)
And, a gentle kiss with the pavement is a lot less painful that slamming it down into a corner only to find your crash bars hit and lifted the front wheel off the ground!! You just spoiled a good day and soiled another pair of Jockeys.
No more Cobra bars for me... from now on, I only use OEM HD Bars...
So what ever happened with this?? Almost 4 years later and do we have a resolution?? This is one of my all time favorite threads LOL
Wish I had been the one to bump it!! I did a search a few months back and could find no reference to a lawsuit..I'm gonna search again!! :)
