Mobile app connection issue?

1978 Views 17 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Administrator
When it comes to my smartphone or tablet I can only access the forum via the mobile app when on Wi-Fi. When I am on either device with good signal all I get is an error message stating the app is trying to access the server, or something like that. Then it eventually times out.

This only happens with the Volusia forums...all others I go to are accessible when I am not on Wi-Fi.

Thanks!

I had an issue with using the mobile app on my wifi-only iTouch. It lasted about 4 days, then cleared up. I had meant to uninstall and reinstall the appl, but never got around to it. Issue self-resolved without me doing a thing. <Shrug>

Ghoulies.

.
Thanks for the response, but this is happening on my smart phone. If I'm on wifi I can connect to the forum.

If I'm out and about and trying to connect through my providers network, I get a message stating that its trying to connect to the server and eventually it times out.

This just started happening about 2 weeks ago.

Have you tried clearing data and cache on the app? I occasionally have strange issues after an update and have to do that. Works fine after every time though.

Yeah I tried that. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I guess I can give it a shot again. Just weird that I can connect on wifi but I can't connect on my providers network

How do I attach pictures to a "post" when I'm using the Mobile App?
Can't seem to be able to do it
Yeah, that us weird, I've never had that problem. I wonder if it has something to do with the site not being IPv6 capable. The only other time I've seen that it's with xkcd. Their site isn't IPv6 compatible, and every now and then Verizon gets a wild hair up their bum forcing me through that connection. When they do, I can't connect to xkcd through mobile, but it still works on wifi. The next time you're on mobile and can't connect, see what happens when you hit the site in your browser, I'm curious.

^^ Huh???

IPv6??
xkcd??

WTF??

I didn't think I was that "illiterate" until I read that post!

You can attach a pic from the camera or gallery by touching the camera icon in the compose window. It's right next to the discard button. I don't think you can do an online attachment from photobucket or anything like that. Let's see what happens, I've never tried it...

Nope, that didn't work. I have no idea where that pic went. Oh well, I guess you can't do it.

I'll give it a shot tomorrow

So I did another uninstall & reinstall. Now I can't connect to any forums unless I am on wifi.

No problems with the website when not on wifi though.

Definitely an app issue.

This is a head scratcher. I have never encountered this issue with the app. What version of the app are you guys using? Could you try (again) clearing your apps cache, then logging into the forum through the app (not on Wifi) and let me know how it goes and any error messages you recieve.

Testing out the photo options for the app. They appear to be working. Make sure you are clicking the camera icon (to take a picture and upload it) or the landscape icon (to upload a photo from your phones photo album) onto the forum. You can use the Photobucket app in correlation with the Motorcycle.com app. I have never done this but I'm sure there app must gives you an IMG Code to copy into the app, like they do on the browser version of the site.

I sent an email to the developer because this issue is now affecting any forum I try to go to.

Oh man, I wish. I just took a picture of it because I like to send my bf pictures of backpacks and lunch boxes that are better then his Spiderman one. TNMT is amazing!

I think the issue might be with your settings. I have not heard any other reports of the Motorcycle.com app but I'll report the issue to the techs. I'm not encountering this issue when I use the app on my Iphone (no Wifi) could someone post a screenshot of the error message you get when you try to access the phone when your not on wifi. Also, I'm guessing your both using the Android version of the app.
