Oh what a difference eight years makes.
Well, he is a few bikes and a lot of miles down the road later. I think once he jumped on the Vulcan he had for a while he realized there is a lot more than a C50 out there.

I also hate for it to get lost in these conversations that a lot of us think the C50 is a great starter middleweight that got us into motorcycle riding. Others just don't need an expensive or quick bike for their style of riding. They are happy tooling around country roads doing 2-5k miles a year and the C50 is fine for that situation. Once you start long distance riding, battling fast traffic, or really wanting to ride the twisties it's time to move to something a little more capable.

I sold my first C50 at 76k and my second at over 80k. Both still running well and no major engine repairs, just good maintenance. The were work horses too. Back and forth to work put about 500 miles per week on them. I was changing the oil every 2-3 months. Lot of highway and a lot of twisty mountains. A great bike.
Thats the Japs build quality in a nutshell.

I told you, you sound just like me..

Which is why you don't own one any more, isn't it. Sorry, a C50 didn't meet your needs.

I swear, at times you are a wet blanket. When someone has something good to say about their C50, you're quick to say 'yes, but'. Maybe we don't wish to hear 'yes, but' all the time. The way some former C50 owners talk, they're surprised that any of us have a bike that can make it up a hill without us having to get off and push!

I figure if I can get 70k out of my bike before the engine dies, I'll be money ahead. Another C50 will always be available and frankly, they're dirt cheap. Hell, I could ride 5 C50s into the ground before I even approached the starting cost of some other bikes on the market! And even those big $$$ machines will eventually wear out too....

I highly doubt that had anything to do with the engine self destructing three years later, but whatever makes you happy.
