The thing that always impresses me about the Victory engine, is the number of seals and gaskets.

A Harley has like 65.
A Victory has 8.

there was video not too long ago on youtube about victory motor vs Harley.
side by side. harley was still in the dark ages. and victory had this and that figured out.
was amazed that...ppl still buy Harley. idk....I just want to ride a motorcycle lol and it not break

iv had more girls lately googoogaga over this or me idk which lately.
I just smile and drive off on my single seat bike.
learned good lesson...if it has wheels or long hair. it will cost you.
wheels are cheaper.....

The Indian shares plenty of heat problems with the Victory. And the Victory was easier to solve.
I have a leather heat shield under my seat to deflect some of the heat off the jugs & reflective tape on the bottom of my seat. Still get almost first degree burns unless I'm moving 50+. Next will be replacing my header pipe with one without a cat in it & wrapping the pipes/headers in heat tape.
The bike fits me much better than the Vic did & is very well balanced. I do have risers on order, so I don't have to lock my elbows at a full lock turn.
Pretty much all big air cooled V-Twins are going to cook you.



My Strat has similar drawbacks, we had to cut last weekend's ride short because my wife was roasting on the back. It was crazy hot at less than highway speeds.

I owned a '16 Scout for about a year. Bought new.

Pros-
Engine. Feels like a sportbike motor, not a cruiser. Serious top end power rush and revs to almost 9 grand once flashed. Top speed (once flashed) an honest 130mph. Quick little thing. Not your grandpa's v-twin that revs like a dump truck.
Chassis. Very solid, no flex, wobbles, misbehavior even when ridden aggressively. Excellent handling, makes the limited clearance especially on the right side known pretty quickly. Exhaust drags shortly after the peg does.
Stainless brakes lines as stock
Belt drive (silent, essentially maintenance free)


Cons-
-For $13k, it's really sparce on features. ABS is extra cost option. No electronics like traction control or anything else. Blinkers don't cancel. Gauge is bare-bones as it gets. Not that I really want/need those, but in that price bracket those are pretty much standard issue now.
-Tiny gas tank. They claimed 3.3 gallons, I never once got more than 2.9 in there even after the bike had run out of fuel. You can run it dry in around 80 miles if you're having fun. Conservative riding, maybe 120-130. To make it worse, no gas gauge, just an idiot light (which didn't work reliably whatsoever).
- Paint would chip/scratch if you looked at it funny.
- Suspension and tires directly from the bargain bin. Newer ones come with Pirelli tires, the older ones had absolutely awful Kenda's. Universally hated on forums.
-Cable clutch. On a $13k bike? Really? It's pretty heavy also.
- Drive-by-wire setting on my '16 was kind of sucky. Throttle just had a really strange, disconnected feel particularly around town. Couldn't get used to it. I changed this with the Powervision tuner, I've heard newer models come with better calibration from the factory.
- ECU would go into limp mode totally randomly without warning. Not often, but still very annoying. Check engine light, limp mode, have to pull over, shut it off, then restart and it'd be fine. Code would be for some throttle error counter. Then it wouldn't happen again for months. Then it'd do it 20 times in one day. Known issue on forums. The "fix" was to use the flash tuner to change the error counter max to 99999 instead of like 5 it's set at stock.


I ended up getting rid of it within a year. I won't say I regretted buying it, but I don't think I'd recommend one to a friend, at least not anywhere near MSRP. If the bike was like $8-9k new it'd be a better deal, but closing in on $13k now, it's way overpriced for what it is. My Scout also hit me with the worst depreciation hit I've ever had on a new bike. I paid around $11k OTD for my 2016 model, which was on late season closeout. About 11 months and 10k miles later, I struggled to get $7k for it (NADA trade-in at the time was $7500, and supposed private party sale was in the mid 8's. Didn't happen).

If you can find a used one, preferably with the goodies you want already installed, I wouldn't shy away if it's something you're interested in. They are a fun bike, especially if you like to twist the wick now and then. I did a few longer trips on mine, luggage options are out there, but the tiny gas tank was a perennial PITA and ended up annoying me more and more over time. Keep it to day trips and around-town riding for best results.
