So, lately, I have had to play with my key a bit to make a connection. So I figure my ignition switch is going bad. Is there a way to get a new one and keep the same key?

The switch on my 2005 C50 went 2 months after my 5 year warranty ran out at 56,000 miles. With what I had to go thru replacing it and having 2 keys I swore I would replace the next one with a toggle switch. As long as you can lock the front wheel it can only go in circles.

So, the self fix doesn't work... My switch is held together with brass rivets instead of the torx screws. So any ideas from there? I would much rather not have to spend $150-$300 for a new one or set.

I have no idea on the 05 working on the 01, but have you talked to a locksmith? A good one might be able to fix the one you've got for cheaper than a new one.
