I've been dealing with this for a couple of weeks. Really not spent too much time due to a parts bike dismantle.

Anyway here goes,

My Stebel horn stopped working. In the past, it's been the relay. I stop by Radio Shack and picked up a new one. I installed it in the parking lot, I hooked it up. Immediately blew the SIGNAL 10a fuse. We had the bike in FL that week so I went a without the horn for awhile. Don't like to do that too long. It's a life saver. When the SIGNAL fuse blew, the gauge and speedo stopped working. I also think it was not charging when running. Had a dead battery when we got home. Replaced the fuse with the spare in the box and started trying to figure it out. Put the old relay back in and fuse is ok. Put the new relay in and immediately blows. I tested the horn and it works. I connected the wires to a different horn and the old relay clicks only. Any ideas as to why the new relay is blowing the fuse? I'm thinking the new relay is bad/ defective. As soon as I connect the power lead wire to the relay which has a fuseable link from the battery, it blows the SIGNAL fuse? From what I can tell the horn button is functioning and not stuck.

Sounds like your right about the relay, exchange it at the shack and try again, I had 2 horn relays go bad after washing the bike. Since I gooped silicone on the wire side of the relay and mounted it wire side down this time, it's been ok for the past few washes.
I get extra relays from ford escorts (most cars have a few of these in them) when at the local pull-a-part, it's cheaper than the shack.

Update. Went down to the local Shack and picked up another relay. Tried to get the clerk to defect the one I bought in FL, but w/o receipt and no manager on duty, he said no.

Anyway, put the new one in and sure enough, it works....

For y'all that use an air horn, it's unnerving to not have it available when riding in traffic.
