I have a 2008 Boulevard VL800/C/T, looking to put a gear indicator on her, any suggestions on how to, brand, BEST...etc. Any and all help appreciated :smile2:

Gear position indicators work by plugging into the diagnostic port on the right side of the bike. There are only a handful of options out there and I don't know of any that are genuinely plug and play. You would have to figure out the wiring, signal lead, etc as that is different between every bike.

Honestly, there are only 5 gears to keep track of. You can pretty much tell what gear your in at a given speed by the way the engine is acting.

Personally, I only care what gear I'm in when coming around a turn. I shift all the way down to first and then quickly count up to where I want to be. Usually it's second I'm looking for, so all the way down and then one quick shift up. It's far easier to learn to do that than to wire in an indicator.
