:idea: First, I really think some of the features of this site are pretty cool. Sort of akin to IntruderAlert. However, I'm curious as to the future of VOL and this site. Will Boberfett continue to support VOL if this site becomes the site of choice? Will the owner(s) of this site keep up the support if the site isn't used much? Will this become the site of choice? Let's face it, alot of us don't have time to keep up with 2 or 3 sites, plus all the other crap we get ourselves into. Maybe there's enough new Volusia's sold where there is a market for multiple sites.

I'm just curious in seeing some banter on the subject. I'm curious to see what the thoughts are of all the folks here, who so far (I assume) are also members of VOL.

I think it will depend on membership. We all know it's the people on VOL that has made it a fave for so many of us (can't be because its so fast and reliable, right? :roll: )

We all know Boberfett has been looking into alternatives for upgrading the VOL site. The setup on this site appears to be quite good, with more goodies to come, and has plenty of backup in case of server problems.

As long as we're getting the same people here as we have there, this seems like a nice place to move to!

I would be curious to know Boberfett's feelings, and how much time he wants to spend on VOL.

I don't see room for two seperate boards. The Vol just seems like home to me. I have had other discussions with other Vol members regarding membership status, and what is it here with this new member and junior member stuff. Does this mean that as a new member or a junior member I have less access or fewer privileges here on this site? I don't want to ruffle too many feathers here, but I want to know.

I'll second what Chrome Dome just said. Only I have dial up. Got fusterated and came here.
Lionfan has some good questions also. Only time will tell.
I really don't want to see VOL go down as it has a lot of reference material on the bikes. If it closes up shop then we'd have to start all over again.

The member rating is just a guage as to how much you post - I also belong to a forum that has military rankings for its members - I started at enlisted, and am up to Company commander, or is it battalion commander - I'm gonna quit and reregister when I get to General !!!! :lol:

Don't feel you're missing out on anything with you member status - they could just as easily set you up as something like 250cc, 500cc, 800cc, 1000cc, 1500cc.
Now that would be appropriate for a motorcycle forum !!!

First let me say that I log onto both boards and will continue to do so.
I love Volusiaowners.com and the members of that site and the wealth of information are what decided me on the VOL.

That being said - I'm about to get sacrilegious - so don't read if you are easily upset.

My prognostication is that volusiaowners will pass into shadow.
I hope and pray that, if it does, the absolute cornucopia of incredibly valuable information there will not be lost - that somehow a way will be found to prevent the data available on volusiaowners.com from de-rez-ing (as they say in the movie TRON)

I also like VOL alot but even with my cable modem i find myself gettingfrustrated alot waiting for pages to load, its really my only complaint with VOL. So far this one has been crusing along no problems.

Is it due to the frustration with the lake of stability of VOL and the fact no one had addressed the issue of server speed and stability if so, I sure can understand?

I think we all have felt that the VOL board could be improved if this is meant to be a board (organization) that has the same feel as VOL (as it appears many of the same people are involved) with all the cool goodies if so, I’m all for it.

I just want to know did this board come about due to the issues mentioned above? Did someone strike out on there own to do a better job if so, again I'm all for it.

Bottom line did you guys try and let Chris in on a better mousetrap or did you just build the better mousetrap and E-mail the VOL members to come check it out. Not that that’s a bad thing I just would like to know

For me VOL is still home. I check over there and when I'm done I come over here if I have time (and somehow I find time). This is a nice site and has it's merits, VOL also has it's merits. VOL is clean and simple, straight to the point. I hope that they both can find the support needed to stay alive.

I am also curious about Boberfett's thoughts on this.

I have to admit that the VolusiaOwners.com site has turned me off recently. It is just too slow for my tastes. I stopped checking out all the pictures because they take way too long to load even at my work which has a T-1 connection.

Time will tell I guess.

I left the Yahoo site at a dead run and never looked back. I can’t do that with VOL. Site loyalty? Yes. An indebtedness to Chris? Surely. But mostly I am comfortable there. I don’t know what will happen. I know I’ll be there every day. I don’t see it as a competition where one site or the other wins, I see it as twice the opportunity to shoot off my mouth.
