Just a thought. I've seen a couple sites where they have a section to post people favorite backroads with full directions. I thought i saw somewhere you had intended to make a regional section. personaly I think it would be pretty cool to be able to look into an area I'm headed to and pull off some spots that have already been scouted out by someone here. Any thoughts :?:

Relaxing nice ride. From Sierra Vista down to Palominas on to Old Bisbee then on to Old Tombstone is a great ride. Stop off at the Old Timers in Bisbee and maybe, just maybe the HD owner will buy you a drink. Either way it's a good ride. 8)

Coming off the Medowbrook Pkwy. on the south shore of Long Island going on to the Ocean Pkwy. Waterfront ride, cool breeze off the ocean, long road with a few "whoop-dee-doos" and a lot of room to open up the throdle. Its patrolled by the State Park Police who have a lot of square miles to patrol and only a few cars to do it. VVVrrroooommmmm!

My personal favorite is riding along the north shore of Long Island on 25A through Cold Spring Harbor, Huntington, Northport, Port Jeff, then onto Sound Ave. into Greenport or out to Orient Point.

Its nothing to spectacular- but its got that mountain feel here in the flatlands. Lotta Twists and turns and hills. Nice trees- thats one feeling I love when you hut that cool feeling after a rain or the trees giving off the coolness. Thats a feeling youll naver get in a car.

The Natchez Trace Parkway winds its way 450 miles through Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee -- from Natchez, Mississippi on the Mississippi River up to Nashville, Tennessee on the Cumberland River in central Tennessee, one of the most scenic and often visited national parks in America, the Natchez Trace spans 5 degrees of latitude and cuts its way through 100,000 years of life on earth.

The "Scenic 7", Arkansas State Highway 7, runs from the Louisiana State line near El Dorado, Arkansas to Diamond City, Arkansas near the Missouri State Line. Approximately 60 miles of the Highway that passes through the Ozark and Ouachita National Forests has been designated by the U.S. Forest Service as part of the National Forest Scenic Byways system. Distinctive mountain scenery and outstanding fall colors can be enjoyed while traveling through the Ouachita and Ozark Mountains on the Scenic 7 Byway. There are numerous recreation areas providing opportunities to camp, hike, mountain bike, canoe, and ride horses along or within a few miles of the highway.

On the way down to Thunder In The Valley this year , I drove along a "regular" non-eventful stretch of highway . But , on the way home decided to take 219 north out of Johnstown . Now that proved to be one of the nicest rides I've been on to date .
It took me through these really small "americana" type towns , the kind with only a gas station/grocery store and a post office , that's it !
But , the biggest kick , were the amount of "twisties" through the Allegany Forest . Mile after mile of woods , and early in the morning , on a Sunday , there were NO cages ! :D
I kicked back in the saddle , and putted home about 40 mph .
It was truly a memorable ride .

One of the best rides in the lower 48 is the going to the sun hiway out of Kalispel Montana that goes through Glacier National Park.

Another Montana ride is the Beartooth hiway from Red Lodge to Cook City.
Both of these are summer rides.

Colorado would be from Cortez to Telluride, over to Ridgeway then to Ouray, Silver City and then down to Durango.

Utah, would be the Logan Canyon run from Logan Utah to Bear Lake. A Great ride.

Arizona, would be the Coronado Trail from Morenci to Springerville near the New Mexico border. Close to home I enjoy the road from Apache Jct. to Canyon Lake, some major twisties.

Sound avenue in Eastern Suffolk County on the north Shore of Long Island NY. There is a little of everything. Dips, straights, farms, Water, old towns etc. Most Long Island Bikers know this route. If you don't
the easy way to get there would be exit 68/ William Floyd Parkway on the
Long Island Expressway/495.
(which is also a great 10 mile straight away) to the end ,make a right on
route 25A bear left at the fork at the Valero gas station
that's the beginning of Sound ave and away you go. take it all the way to the end which is Orient Point.

Wow! Lots of LI riders, I was in Long Island coming home on New Years day looking at all the bikes on the LIE must be lots of avid riders down there. One of the best roads that I had the pleasure of riding was the Kancamangas (sp?) Hwy in New Hampshire last summer, it has quite a reputation as a bikers dream and lived up to every bit of the hype. The trip up Mount Washington wasn't to shabby either. I've got a feeling we could fill many pages with great roads.
