I wave to all bikers. Except in my town here there are a few sport bike riders who consider themselves to be extremist and If I ever catch up with them I'll knock that idea right out of thier head. They are the ones who fly up and down my street (in a school zone) at all hours of the day when the kids are all outside playing near and in the street.
I know who they are and what bikes they ride. They live on the other side of town. If they want to kill other people I wish they would do it in thier own nieghborhood.
Those bikes can stop pretty fast. Not fast enough for some situations though. There's a time and a place for everything.

Gary,

I have the same problem, along with some P.O.S. Honda civic kids. I called the cops about a dozen times at least. Had them come to my house so I could rant a bit when one of them barely swerved in time to miss me as I walked out( By the way, I'm glad I had that chain to smack the back fender).

My latest attempt you ask? I'm now cutting these 4x4's into 2 foot lengths so they'll be easier to toss into the road. Imagine THAT sight as you come barreling down a 30 mph zone at 90 oing a wheelie!

OK OK OK..wishful thinking on that part. But it is a tempting thought!

I'll wave at anybody. After all their bike riders too. Even the kids on their bikes. :D

I don't care what they're riding. I wave to all bikers that go by. Sometimes they don't wave back and I feel like an idiot, but I figure maybe as they pass they feel like an idiot for not waving!

I wave if they are on 2 wheels with a motor ( and if they are cute girls on or off a bike) If they don't wave back ...they are the ones that SHOULD feel like idiots not you!!....I know I've missed a wave back and feel bad but I tend to watch where I am going instead of the other lane so I miss a few. :D

I wave. In fact I make a point of waving. I wave to harleys, sportsbikes and I have even been known to give the nod to scooters. Kids in the back of cars are my favourite though...the look of abject horror on the face of their mother when they start attracting the attention of a leather clad "hells angel" is just too funny.

I wave to everyone, if they are on bikes, walking or just sitting on a bench. I must agree the kids in the back seat of the family car, trying to sneak in a quick wave before the parents catch them, are the greatest. They are so pleased when you wave back. I like to think that they will remember this moment and in later life, look back kindly on the biker.

I wave to everybody too.
I once waved at a guy on a bicycle in black pajamas and he took a shot at me.
Most other "bikers" just wave back....

I wave to all bikes. Sometimes they wave back sometimes they don't. Some just nod. A nod is as good as a wave. Sometime you can't wave ie shifting, etc

here an article I found a while back

The Joy of Motorcycle Riding
author unknown
I love motorcycles, and I love riding. Like many of you what first drew me to bikes was not just the experience of riding, but the feeling that I'd become part of a special community - a brotherhood, really. Nothing calms me more than a long ride down the interstate, waving to the members of my beloved clan. Except when I pass Harley guys. I hate Harley guys. Hate, hate, hate. When they pass me on the highway, you know what I do? I don't wave. With their little tassel handlebars and the studded luggage and the half helmets - God, they drive me crazy.

You know who else I hate? BMW guys. Oh, do I hate those guys. I don't wave at them either. They think they're so great, sitting all upright, with their 180 degree German engines. God, I hate them. They're almost as bad as those old bastards on their touring motorcycles. You know what I call those bikes? "Two wheeled couches!" Get it? Because they're so big. They drive around like they have got all day. Appreciate the scenery somewhere else, Grandpa, and while your at it, I'm not waving to you.

Ducati guys - I don't wave at them either. Why they don't spend a little more money on their bikes? "You can have it in any color as long as it is red." Aren't you cool! Like they even know what a Desmo-whatever engine is, anyway. Try finding the battery, you Italian-wannabe racers! I never, ever wave at those guys.

Suzuki guys aren't much better, which is why I never wave at them, either. They always have those stupid helmets sitting on the top of their stupid heads, and God forbid they should ever wear any safety gear. They make me so mad. Sometimes they'll speed by and look over
at me and you know what I do? I don't wave I just keep going. Please, don't get me started on Kawasaki guys. Ninjas? What are you, twelve years old? Team Green my ass. I never wave at Kawasaki guys.

I ride a Honda, and I'll only wave at Honda guys, but even then, I'll never wave at a guy in full leathers. Never, never, never. Yeah like you're going to get your knee down on the New York Thruway. Nice crotch, by the way. Guys in full leathers will never get a wave from
me, and by the way, neither will the guys in two piece leathers. And I'll tell you who else I'm not waving at - those guys with the helmets with loud paint jobs. Four pounds of paint on a two pound helmet - like I'm going to wave back at that! I'll also never wave at someone with a mirrored visor. Or helmet stickers. Or racing gloves. Or hiking boots.

To me, motorcycling is like a family, a close knit brotherhood of people who ride Hondas, wear jeans and a leather jacket (not Vanson) with regular gloves and a solid color helmet with a clear visor, no stickers, no racing gloves and regular boots (not Timberlands). And isn't that what really makes riding so special.

Yes, I wave at everybody on a bike or scooter or who waves at me. It is fun and is a real good feeling to wave at the other guy or gal. If they don't wave back......oh well. Waving makes me smile, riding makes me smile, I like smiling.

I agree with you. More often than not they wave back. So I'm not so much of an idiot I guess.

I might wink behind my sunglasses or raise one finger off my grip to the organ donors on crotch rockets that ride with no regard for saftey(personal and especially for others). There is a time and a place for doing a 90mph wheelie and thats not in moderate traffic or in a residential area. Otherwise I wave to anyone on a bike even though I have been snubbed ever so many times.
