Coolant Leak (c50 Boulevard 2006)

1323 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  IzeHouze
There seems to be a coolant leak in between the cylinder heads that leaks over to the left side of the bike when on the side stand. Any idea where this may be coming from? Also, when answering, keep in mind that I don't have very much experience in maintaining bikes so please keep it simple.

Additional question: I took a pic of where the leak is coming from and noticed a screw resting in between the heads. Where could that have come from? Is that the source of the leak?

I had a similar problem earlier. In my case, it came from the connection between top cylinders (rubber hose with metal clamps). I changed o-ring, which solved the problem. To do that, you need engine work. Lower the engine, disassemble the top cylinders. You need a repair manual. Coolant leak from upper engine should not be ignored. Good luck!

Thanks, man. I actually decided to take it to the mechanic to spare myself the headache. He had it done within an hour's work.

What did it cost you?
Figure labor rates at $95 an hour, plus shop fees, parts and taxes. Budget $300 and be happy if it is less.

$95 and hour? You have nice mechanics. Going rate in central FL is about $125-$140
But best of luck to the OP!
