Hadn't seen this thread before, but I bent my Cobra bars on the pavement last week. No challenging roads or high speeds, just a regular intersection in the downtown area. I was riding about 11pm, approached a 90 degree right turn on a green light, slowed, leaned, accelerated through and scraped like hell. Didn't get to alarmed until I was putting my foot back down and the floorboard was bent upwards.

In my case, the pavement was inclined and higher on the right side around the curve. Not apparent approaching the turn and I was riding in the dark. Taken that corner several times in the daytime, but maybe it was after a stop or I adjusted without giving it a thought. BTW, my bike is stock clearance, not lowered at all.

Jmax99, Hello. I just read your referenced thread and left a post. I had no idea there were so many of us "Cobra benders" out there :shock: . And, we are just the survivors :roll: The ones still able to talk about the experience :wink: . I wonder how many have lost their lives because the bars interfered with their steering and they actually LOST control of the bike as I did :?: Accidents chalked up to "rider error" or "too much speed in a curve", etc. by the "talking heads"/experts, i.e."monday morning quarterback types ":wink:. Like the cruiser rider who went off the Dragon recently and lost his life. They said he was going too fast for road conditions, it was wet, and lost it in a curve. Off the road and into a tree. I would like to know his set up. In particular, did he have bars or not :?: And, could they have been the reason :?: ... I'm not against having bars, don't get me wrong, I'm on my 3rd set on this bike in two years. I am for making others aware of the danger inherent with having them though. i.e. just a little too much lean and SURPRISE :!: :!: :cry:

I have heard that the MC bars won't work with lowers due to a clearance issue. Can anybody verify or deny that? Riding an 07 C50 with National Cycle switchblade windshield and chrome lowers. Looking to buy highway bars with pegs, just can't decide which ones to buy. Anybody have the switchblade pegs by Kuryakyn? They look cool. Looking for every day rider feedback.

I have a set of MCE bars and I also have lowers. They do hit the bars but only when the bike is parked and the forks turned all the way. They have been on this way over a year with no problems. Nothing bent or damaged.
