last bike was the vl 1500 intruder, had the sight glass for checking oil....this bike the 800 I installed a level tube from a old level...fastened it to the floorboard bracket, been there for 40,000 miles... this and using a mechanics mirror is all you need....

Instead of a mechanics mirror i use a selfie stick and my phone

I have a block of wood to put under the kickstand that holds the bike almost straight up and I know where the level should be.

A 2x4 under the side stand is almost perfect for leveling the bike out. Close enough to work fine.

I put my bike on my lift when I change oil, so it is level when I fill it and check it. The mirror or selfie stick is a great idea!
