Here is a BIG Question :?: On the VOL msg board, there was A LOT of talk about a national rally. Is that for VOL members only, or is that going to be for Volusia owners (notice lowercase owners), and not msg board specific?

This one should get a pretty good discussion going... Blairwitch, what are your thoughts, you were really taking up the lead on that effort (or it seemed such).

As you know, a lot of planning has already happened in regards to the National Rally over on the VOL msg board, polls as to where and when. I believe that most everyone will agree with your comments.

I don't want to duplicate any work, but should there be announcements about the rally posted on this msg board in the event people stop frequenting the VOL site?

I am with you, what about all the stuff that has already happened. Because it is open to all it must be coordinated. It seems like it should be planned first and then posted.

Some of this is starting to make sense to me now.

The planning has begun in one place and I think should continue from there. Once it is set up and complete it can be posted and invitations to all can be made. VR people know how to get to VOL and most of them post there. The planning thread is now 5 pages long. Once the planning is done it should be posted here and anywhere else. Asking for volenteers here is duplicating efforts and will cause more confusion then it will help. We are not the Hells Angels....it is open to everyone. I just think something this big needs focus.

IA is making plans for a big rally and they seem to be much farther along that anyone at VOL or VR. Why not make it easy and join them? A lot of people will have to select their vacation time for next year in the next two months. If a time frame is not established by then, they will not be able to set aside time for it. Is it that important that it be Volusia specific? Why not join with all the intruders, we all visit the same boards anyhow.

You are right DL, It would be great to have a Volusia specific rally but it is a huge undertaking. If it cant be put together in time I am saying that an alternative would be to piggyback with IA. We all do have intruders. I really would like our own rally, I am just thinking about if it cant be put together on time.

Here is my 2Cts., maybe 5Th Ton or the admin poeple can do a poll to find out where would be the most central place to do the rally from in accordance with the location of the majority of the members. The VOL guys have done lots of work on this, its not a matter of duplicating, its a matter of helping them or them helping us get the Rally going. In my case, I have to do 1000 miles up the Baja to get home, after crossing the border, how ever many miles to the rally site, no matter how I look at it, its going to be far but, I'm ready to go and help organize, what is the problem on how organizes it, be it VR or VOL or IA?, the thing is to get it done.

The dates are already set, July 8-12. Location is already set, Eureka Springs, Arkansas. If you want to go to the IA rally, go. Me personally, we have been planning a national VOL rally for a long time, I'm there if at all possible. I don't think any votes or any organizing should be done over here. Could get confusing. If you want to attend, check out VOL for specifics until plans are nailed down. Then it might be a good idea to post them elsewhere.

Above all, the date and place have to be locked down. There will be many that have to request time off from work early enough to ensure they get them days off.

I'm for Volusia semi-specific. From there, if they have friends who ride another brand of bike they are more than welcome...more the merrier. There were a few a *******, they complimented the group. Also, if we hook up with another group we could get out numbered, that ain't happenin'

As for me,
I aint travelling across the entire country without at least a few buddies, and I guarentee they aint all gonna be riding volusias. In fact, 2 of em who would almost definitely be by my side, ride harleys... a low rider and a electra, damn nice bikes 8)

so its guarenteed to at least be only 99.99% exclusive, if 2000 members show. :shock:

Heres my 2 cents...The VOL guys have put a lot into the planning and set dates and place. It is a Volusia rally...others can come but it is being planned as a Volusia Rally first and formost. Kind of like the "Honda Hoot" lots of others come Suzukis, Kawys BMWs etc but it primaraly a Honda event. I plan on riding there on my Vol so I'll be there...If you want to come on a Vespa come along but it is planned as a Volusia event...Personally I hope every Vol rider shows up...I want Ideas for more accessories :applause:

persoanlly, as long as I get to ride..and get to meet some of the people I have gotten to know. I'm a happy man. Let's not get so wrapped up in the politics. Life's too damn short to worry about that kinda crap.

Skiertodd is right, Fringe is right, Bench ride down with your Harley buddies.....nobody cares. My best riding buddies ride Harleys too they will be there with me. The date and place is set. It is a Volusia rally......open to everyone.....like the hondahoot. I want to meet a bunch of you guys and gals. Life is too short for the politics. Let's work together and make it a real great time for all.

It goes without saying that other bikes will be there, I dont think anyone would want it any different. As long as the dates and location are set for sure I am good to go. Dont really need any more planning, we just show up and hit it from there. I will be having some riders with me and they will be on HDs also, just cant convince some people!

I'm not attending the VOL rally but I can tell you my experience from the past IA rallies. The west coast IA'ers have had two events, both times it was an IA event but have had other types attend and it never detracted from the rally.
