What would a custom mods section be without a baffle removal thread. If you want to save yourself a few hundred bones then remove the baffles from your pipes. The proceedure is quite simple and any number of people here will be willing to tell you how to do it if you ask. The volume level is significantly louder than stock although not nearly as harsh and piercing as many aftermarket pipes that I have heard. The tone is very deep and smooth.

Make sure you cut a couple of wooden dowels because they wear out quick. Use as big a drill as you can get your hands on and lots of patience when cranking on the baffle. It will come out and you will LOVE the sound :!: :!:

I second that one! I loooooove the sounds coming out of the exhaust now.. I may go to aftermarket pipes later down the road, but it's going to be a long way down now!

Anybody near little ol' Rhode Island with no baffles? There are 3 of us here that I know of, that would love to hear what they sound like before we take the hole saw to them. Anybody? Bueller?

I cant afford too buy the holesaw right now and I am thinking about using a chissel and carefully cutting it out. Any feedback on this method?

How about making a circle if drill holes and then filing or cutting between them - that might be a little easier.
if you do many drill holes in a circle w/ a small drill bit, then go to a bigger drill bit and re drill those holes, you could probably get a pretty clean cut.

You will be kicking yourself later if you don't do it right the first time. I have seen the holesaws for as little as $10. All you need is that and a drill. If you use the 3" holesaw it comes out clean, if you do it the other way it will look pretty bad when you are done. Maybe you could rent one at a tool rental place? Might save you a couple of bucks.

I got a hole saw at Lowes for under $10.00. be sure to get one designed to cut metal and a Big A$$ Drilll. I did mine with a cordless and it took several recharges and much longer than it should have. The hole saw was getting dull by the 2nd baffle as well, so it might be worth starting out with a new one.

Still, it was the best and cheapest Mod I have made. 8)

These guys are right, dont use a hole saw designed for cutting a door knob hole. Be sure it is a metal cutting one. Then cut away. Instead of a 1" dowel get a 1" hole saw and cut a 1" piece out of a 2x4 or something, then the hole will be dead nuts in the middle. That is helpful, atleast it was for me. It sounds nice. I bet it would even sound nice in RI   Be safe everyone
