I am recently new to bikes and purchase a 03 volusia last fall. I'm currently in the process of doing every maintenance thing possible to her as I don't know the history.
My question is I purchase an air filter from the dealer and it was approx $50.00 (canadian). Is there anyplace else you can buy an air filter. Oil filters, oil and all the other stuff you can buy elsewhere, but Air Filters I would like to find elsewhere as they would probably be as good and cheaper. Thanks,

Nope....the K&N by itself really doesn't add that much air,if any....It's nice and easy to keep it clean though...

YES on his carbed VOL he would need to rejet if he put a K&N in the airbox.
A C50 might run all right w/a K&N and no fuel processor but a carbed VOL will run like crap without a rejet.

just clean it every couple of years or so.

I wouldn't wait a year... I routinely clean mine (at least) every oil change. If it's been really dusty, lots of pollen, etc... I clean it. If I'm going on a long trip (200+) I clean it.

Use a K&N filter cleaning kit to clean and refreshen your filter.

NO COMPRESSED AIR! You don't want to blow a hole in the membrane or blow a seam.

I have had a K&N on my VOL for 2.5yrs and lovin' it!

Just my $0.02.
