Depending on what aftermarket pipes you go with, weight is also a factor. The stock pipes are heavy. Just as a test, if you're comfortable with it, take your hands off the bars sometime on the highway and see how your bike reacts, chances are youre gonna drift to the right, those pipes are heavy. The stock pipes are very small in diamater, if you go aftermarket, and allow more air out, you can allow more air in with an aftermarket air intake (hyper charger or air kit). Add a rejetted carb or power commander depending on what year your bike is, and you should see an increase in performance. The benefits of this have been debated heavily here the last 8 months or so.
