Hi guys I’m new here. I just got a 17’ C90 BOSS and love it so far! The dealer I got her from said I’d need a valve adjustment at 600 miles but I’m not seeing that at all in the manual or anywhere online. Anyone got any advice on this?

Am pretty sure that the C90 has hydraulic valves and therefore does not need valve adjustments, unlike the C50 which does need valve adjustments. Am sure that others will chime in :).

unless its changed over the years,,,my 06 c90 has self adjusting valves...nice surprise feature when I bought mine.

The dealer may have just had a brain fart. He was probably thinking c50, not c90. Just call them up and confirm that your c90 doesnt need it.

It shows a valve adjuster arrangement similar to the C50

wonder when they changed that...
When they re-introduced the C90 as a water cooled bike, they used the engine from the M90 which has the mechanical lifters.......

when did they go water cooled,,,and wonder if it turned out to be a good or bad switch...asked by someone who should spend more time learning about mc's then looking for bananas...is what it is.

“The C90T owes it heritage to the Suzuki Intruder that was launched in 1998. Later to be renamed the Boulevard, this 1462cc air-cooled cruiser was a popular Suzuki stalwart around the world selling more than 73,000 units. amazing what you can learn here just by asking...thanx...always thought they were all air cooled...
The ones prior to 2009 were air/oil cooled

for some reason I remember the term oil cooled coming into play when someone would mention "isn't the c90 oil cooled"...of course I would just nod and agree, totally clueless about air/oil/water cooled...bad enough to be a moron...no sense holding up a neon light advertising it... so now that school is in session, figured I'd do some research...

The C90 is a fuel injected 1500LC, and the 1500LC motor is basically a 1400 Intruder motor bumped out 100ccs. So the oil cooling was a carry over from the circa-1986 Intruder 1400.

Water cooling is not really a desirable feature from a design standpoint, and engineers avoid it if they can. It adds weight, complexity, moving parts, and maintenance, plus there are the cosmetic issues of the radiator location. Water cooling in larger v-twins has only gained market acceptance in the last few years, despite water cooled models being sold since the 1930s, and many water cooled metrics were sales disasters- Suzuki lost big money on the Water Buffalo, for example. So in 1986 water cooling simply wasn’t an option for a bike intended to compete with the then new Harley Softail. But engineers did a great job, making a motor that will run cool enough on air cooling, and the oil cooler helps cool down the pistons to prevent pre-detonation and allow a more aggressive spark curve for more power. Harley, Yamaha, Victory, Indian, and Triumph are able to appeal to traditional buyers by designing air-cooled motors that meet all current and projected emissions standards.

Today water cooling is much more widely accepted by the metric buying public, so Honda, Suzuki, and Kawasaki use it for their power cruisers. The design of these bikes is tight, and adequate air cooling is just not possible, and buyers are attracted to the power of these bikes. Some even see water cooling as an advantage, and many younger buyers prefer it, especially those who entered the motorcycle world through familiarity with sport bikes. But air cooled cruiser models still outsell water cooled ones about 5 to 1.

Originally from AZ but the Army’s got me in Texas for the time being. Anyone here know where to get a black sissy bar for the GF? Having a hard time finding one.

don'tthink you'll find much in the area of accessories...when I replaced my last c90, 2014...they were giving away new c90's for a steal...under 9k...aside from the total black look...not really into the total black look...I also learned from doing research on what aftermarket was available...there was very little...again...a negative.

again...that was in 2009...
I couldn't picture having an air cooled bike as much traffic as I get stuck in Atlanta...

been riding the c90 model for 8 years now...only had 1 issue with my 04 Volusia...sitting in traffic at Americade...hit stand still traffic a few times on the c90 and always worry its going to shut down...so far hasn't happened.
