Coworker here (Albany NY area), her husband died suddenly last fall, and she's getting around to selling some stuff, including his bike. Just trying to help her out.

From what she tells me, don't let the 1988 part fool you. Apparently there's a new engine and lots of other newly installed parts, and he apparently really babied the bike.
