tmunoz I think you're right. The only way to absolutely stop helmet buffeting is to not wear a helmet or remove your windshield. I've think I've worked with mine enough and feel I have it reduced as much as it's going to be. I do feel that with my face shield down on a full face helmet I get less buffering, almost completely gone actually, then when I raise my face shield.

EazyDyz I think all cruiser riders suffer from some buffeting, unless you're quite short say below 5ft 8.
Ive experimented with screens and lowers, and with both buffeting is reduced, but if I duck my head 5 inches lower or so, buffeting goes away completely.
Problem is for that to work for me I'd need an even taller screen, one which is taller than my head/helmet, which isnt ideal because then id be forced to look through the screen when riding and not over it, so you cant win.
Only other solution is to get an aftermarket seat which curves downwards more so you sit 'in' the bike, making you sit lower and so the screen covers your face more

For everyday use, I use the Etymotic ETY musician's earplugs.

They reduce volume, not just muffle or block sounds. I can hear everything around me clearly, but at a comfortably lower level. They are not too expensive and easy to use. Just lick 'em and stick 'em.

The manufacturer says to replace them every 3 to 6 months, but I've used them for several years at a time before replacing them with no problem at all.

I always have some of cheap foam earplugs on hand, too.

tmunoz I use the spongy shooting disposable ones. I had also bought a relatively cheap pair that had a cord attached to it so they would stay together except they tend to stick out of your ear and interfere with the helmet, not uncomfortably but do interfere some what.

RellaLou Yeah, I need the windshield.

Tergazzi I ran with no windshield for awhile (looks way better), but like other have said, i got tired of fighting the wind on longer/higher speed rides. I ended up buying a smaller windshield off eBay and It has pretty much stayed on since. It helps but doesnt block all the wind and still looks pretty good with it on.

Link for the one I bought:

beezer People rent seats and pipes here all the time.

beezer Think of it as renting the DJ drive. Resell it when you sell the bike.

tmunoz When I had my Cobra pipes on the bike even with earplugs it was incredible loud. Now that I've put my OEM pipes back on and my windshield, very comfortable. But the answer to your question is yes I ride with ear plugs. I do wish I had a six gear but I don't ride enough highway riding to spend the money for the mod. Thanks
