I can't say how much the RPM's are lowered, but I just installed mine this weekend...I can't believe the difference in the whole attitude of the bike. It is worth every penny, and every minute I spent installing it.
I can't imagine anyone NOT loving it, once installed.

I have a quick question concerning the final drive mod. What is the difference in gear ratios between the C50 and C90 final drives, and what kind of RPM difference are we talking about?
I want to do the mod, but if there isn't much of an RPM drop, I don't know if it would be worth the money spent.

Now if by chance some one sent you a VS 1400 drive, that driveshaft is considerably shorter than the C90/VL1500 driveshaft and that drawing would not make any sense when looking at a 1400 driveshaft.
VL1500/C90 shafts, shorten by about 3/4 inch.
VS1400 driveshaft would actually have to be lengthened.

It would help to know which measurements do not match up.
Anyway, the critical measurement is from the end of the drive end splines (those being the shorter of the two splined ends) to the shoulder behind the longer of the two splined ends (the other end being the u-joint end), that measurement is CRITICAL.
Measuring from the end of the short spline end to the shoulder, that measurement has to be 15.750 inch.
The overall length of the driveshaft, drive end spline to end of u-joint spline must be 16 15/16 inch.
Cutting and splicing the driveshaft so that the shoulder falls at 15.750 inch from the drive end of the shaft, may render the overall length slightly longer than 16 15/16ths inch.
That extra length is not critical to remove, but as long as it's in the machine shop it's not a bad idea to have them trim 2mm off the u-joint (long spline) end to accomadate the 16 15/16ths overall lenth.
Again the critical measurement after they are all done is from the drive end spline (short spline end) to the shoulder behind the u-joint end (long spline end).
That shoulder must fall at 15.750 inch from the end of the drive end spline.
Hooking a tape on the drive end of the spline that shoulder should fall at 15.750 inches after the two ends are spliced together.

So I just received a call from my local Machine Shop where I am having my C90 (VL1500) driveshaft modded and they have informed me that the drawing that I dropped off is not matching my driveshaft. Note that I printed off the drawings at the beginning of this post and gave them to the shop as a reference. Now the machine shop wants me to explain what I need done.
My question is should I just tell them to follow exactly what is listed on the drawing? All of machining and modding is all foreign to me so I dont know what to tell them.
Does anyone have the verbiage on exactly what needs to be done on the driveshaft so I can explain it to the shop on the phone? Note that this is a very reputable shop that is known in my area. I have a feeling that I might have confused.

Yes these drawings are to modify a C90/VL1500 driveshaft.
They include a drawing for a spacer and an axle bushing.
Advantage is to leave your C50 driveshaft unmolested, then if you sell the bike you can reinstall the oem drive and you'd have a modified drive to sell (currently going for about $500).
If a person does want to modify a C50 driveshaft, I recommend just sending it out to Aric in South Dakota. He can modify the shaft and supply spacer and bushing, I think he includes grease seal in a kit.

Just picked up a C90 (VL1500) final drive off of ebay.
So here is my last question...I think, are these drawings to modify a C90 (VL1500) driveshaft to fit in my C50? Or do I bring the machine shop my current C50 driveshaft to fit on my VL1500 Final Drive?

I would certainly think so.
Those are clear accurate drawings and the procedure is straight forward.
Cut, shorten, sleeve, reweld and true up.
Critical measurement is drive end of driveshaft to u-joint end shoulder.

Bringing it back
If I were to bring these dawings to a machine shop are they detailed enough for the shop to know what to do? I am not savvy enough to explain this to the shop so I am hoping that these drawing will speak for themselves.
