why I don't go to concerts...

besides as Beezer calls it...just being cheap...can't understand all the fee's involved in buying tickets... case in point...tonite santana/doobie bros...the infinity concert center in Hartford, Ct...

wife bought the tickets about a month ago...from the place itself not a ticket agency...

$62.50 price of ticket...so far so good
17.15 service fee...whatever that is...rip off # 1
11.00 Admission fee ...guess that goes to the guy who takes your ticket..rip off #2
5.00 processing fee ...thought that's what the service fee is for...ripoff #3
95.65 total price of the ticket

but wait...wife actually paid over $200 for the 2 tickets so I have to assume the missing $15 she actually paid went to Fed Ex who delivered the tickets...will call unavailable...

so the $62 ticket eventually went up 65%...somewhere in the neighborhood of $103 for each ticket to cover fee's...

don't mind the concert venue adding a few extra $$$ to cover whatever costs they feel they are losing but 2/3 the price of the original ticket...ok...guess if there are enough fools out there willing to be taken, next time maybe they'll up it to 75% the cost of the ticket...and so perhaps Beez is right this time...I'm cheap...but not stupid, at least not in this case and probably the reason "I" don't buy the tickets to go to concerts anymore.

Whats the big hurry...slow down and enjoy the ride!

This reminds me of a conversation I had with a friend who is on the power grid.
An electric bill seems rather similar.

The KWH price is pretty much fixed, but they can add whatever fees they like, or so it appears.

Most everybody has a smart meter these days, so no need for some guy to fend off dogs, bee hives, fences, locked gates and angry owners to come read the meter.
But yet, there's a meter reading fee.
And taxes, and, and and.....

The real kicker though?
Delivery fee.

That's why I scalp tickets. I buy the ones when friends of ticket holders are a no show and they would like to recoup at least some of their money.

That's to cover the built in wifi so they can read it. Don't forget that you're paying for the juice that runs the wifi and the meter itself. That juice never makes it into your house. Plus you're paying taxes on the juice to run their equipment.

I can head East or West, it doesn't matter as long as it's on 2 wheels.

That is absurd pricing.
Our venue here (BNH Pavillion) has just a modest service fee.
Man, they really sock it ya in CT.

I always double the advertised price of tickets when I decide if I'm going or not. Usually works out right. It's all Ticketmaster doing that fee thing. They suck.

yup, most of the year my solar more than covers my usage however, I still get a $29. bill each month in fees. Generation of electric $0.00 what a scam

I used to get the same when I had an apartment that was all electric except the heat. Middle of August I'd still be paying $30 for gas, even if you kill the pilot light on the furnace.
