leave well enough alone...

so now they want to change Halloween to the last Saturday in Oct...claim its for safety of the children...need more parents out walking with the kids...make it an all day celebration...yeah...whatever...right now it is an added day of celebrating the day for kids with parties etc...so the kids lose the real day of t/t too...and the parents who are suppose to be out walking w/their kids...forget about those Saturday nite costume party's...can't leave well enough alone...

next will be the superbowl sunday to superbowl Saturday... game is over too late...since this day has become the biggest food fest of the year, personally feel it really should be enjoyed Saturday with sunday the day to sleep in late and recover.

lets not forget about baseball playoffs/world series...remember the days back when games were played in the day...now they finish after midnite and they wonder why kids don't really follow the sport...

and finally ground hog day...ever go to punxsutawney for the fest...great idea...only it should be enjoyed later in the day, not beginning at 3 in the a.m. and should be moved to may when its warmer...not in Feb when its below zero...lets face it...the whole thing is a scam...but like the Running of the Bulls, a great reason to congregate and party...just make sure you're at the stage by 7 a.m....town would really benefit from it too...by the time its over...7:05 a.m. folks just want to go home and sleep.

Yep...I really need to get a dog...

then I can spend this valuable time I spend here jotting down this needed info helping him search for the bone he buried and can't remember where he buried it...

Whats the big hurry...slow down and enjoy the ride!

I'm all for moving Halloween. It's a completely commercial holiday anyway. No one cares about it, just an excuse to sell candy and costumes, and party. Why not have it on a more convenient day of the week?

The Superbowl should be on Saturday, or at least the game should start way earlier on Sunday. Lots of guys call out sick on the Monday after.

No one really cares about Baseball playoffs. For the few that do, if the games were earlier in the day they'd call in sick to go to the games as opposed to calling in sick because they stayed up too late watching them.

Groundhog's Day... well, the time is set by the groundhog and the whole point of it is to see if we're going to have six more weeks of winter or not, so you can't really move it. Has to be in February. If you move it to May, winter will be over so it would be pointless. If you want the weather to be a bit warmer, come down to Georgia and watch General Lee rather than Punxsutawney Phil. Phil is only about 30% accurate anyway and General Lee is holding around 60%, so you'd get better information along with not freezing.

Hope that helps.

Halloween is All Hallows' Eve. All Hallows (All Saints' Day) is November 1. The eve is therefore October 31 -- despite the greed of people making money off of the event.

Agreed about the Super Bowl.

And there ARE people who care about the baseball playoffs, me among them. So stick it!

maybe a first here...mark this day and time folks...but...I agree with you...halloween everywhere should be in the day.. if just for the safety alone.
Saturday/sunday...yeah...ok...with lots of folks working weekends now... still an issue for some but for the majority it would probably be a better scenario and at least worth trying.

make the first round 2 out of 3...second round 3 out of 5...series 4 out of 7...forget the wild card...next we'll have 16 teams qualifying for the playoffs and finishing Christmas eve...make the season shorter and start the playoffs sept 1...

I'd rather just send Phil down to Georgia and let phil and The General settle it in a giant mud pit. By the way what were both their predictions this year?

I have no idea. Don't pay attention to either of them usually. I always figure it will warm up when it warms up and not moment sooner. Just searched to see which was more accurate and hit a few website. I figured people would be keeping track and there were.

I'm up for replacing groundhog day in the winter with raccoon day in the summer.. The 'coon can then predict 6 more weeks of summer or something.
It would be an interesting party, those critters can get quite nasty when provoked.
