Very hard thing to do. Done it twice now and had a third run over on the street in front of our house.

We have no pets now as our lifestyle doesn’t lend itself to keeping pets.

My son has a Dog that is getting on in years and I can’t imagine the pain he will experience when he looses Gixer....

Condolences to you and your family!!!

Man, so sorry Whiskey.
I still feel the pain from having to take my dog in. That was about 6 years ago. The hardest thing I ever had to do, but I know that after I had to carry her outside to use the bathroom because she didn't have the strength, it was time. Even knowing it was the right thing to do for her, man, it is crushing.
We have another dog now, a guinea pig, 3 cats, a lizzard and 6 mice...every one of them, no matter how annoyed I get with them, they are part of the family. One guinea pig passed away earlier this year, and my 6 year old daughter was heartbroken for a month. She just cried and cried. Harley was her baby. Davidson is the brother and he's her baby now. We also lost a mouse and you wouldn't think it would have an impact, but my kids were just tore up over it. Pets become part of your life and when they go, a part of you goes with them. Hang on to the happy memories my friend.

This is so true. I had a pair of fire belly toads and one of them had something happen to it that caused it to lose the use of it's rear legs. I had to put the poor thing out of its misery and I almost lost it.

I found myself wondering why I was upset about killing a frog, but I had fed and cared for it for about 5 years, so it had become part of the family to me.

I guess I'm just an old softy these days.

So sorry to hear this, bro.
We haven't had a pet since 1999, because it is so difficult to watch them pass away.

It's hard, but I've had almost a decade with him, so I think it's worth it. I'll keep on with one dog for a while, but I'll probably get another in a couple of years.

So sorry to hear this.
To me, there is nothing worse.
I understand. Been there many times.
Currently we have a dog who is on borrowed time......
Everyday with him is a gift.
Sorry for your loss. Please remember all the love and all the times he made you smile.
That's how he would want to be remembered.

Sorry to hear of your loss. When my boy Ripken passed it took me a few months before I could say his name without tearing up. Now I have Zeke just turned a year old a little hard headed but very loving. Give yourself some time. I had forgotten how much work raising a puppy was, but worth it.
