Night of the evil dad

Sometimes it's entirely too much fun to torture your children. My boys have been dying to see Avengers: Endgame. Hell, I'm dying to see it myself, but we also hadn't seen Captain Marvel yet.

Tonight I told the boys we were going to the movie and they were so excited to see Endgame. We got to the theater and they were mildly disappointed when I asked for tickets to see Captain Marvel. I told them that we'd have to wait until next weekend to see Endgame.

After the movie was over I suggested that we watch Avengers and they got excited again. Imagine their disappointment when they realized that I meant we should go home and watch Infinity War on Netflix.

Tonight I told them that they needed to get some sleep because we had a long day ahead of us tomorrow. I told them we'd be sitting for three hours in the morning. It just so happens that the drive to my parents house is about three hours, but hey, that happens to be the running time of Endgame too.

Tomorrow morning I'm going to get them up and leave the house around 9:30, only instead of heading toward the interstate we're heading toward the theater. There's a 10:30 showing of Endgame.

Yes, I'm an evil dad.

It's a parents right to torture their kids. You have to teach them not to jump to assumptions.

Yes. Yes. I'm "teaching" them life lessons. I am, most definitely, not doing it for my own entertainment.

I also loved setting my kids up with trust and anxiety issues.

Their faces were priceless when we pulled into the theater parking lot and they realized how I had been conning them all along. Totally made it with all the work to set it up. Watching commercials in the theater now. Movie starts in ten minutes.

Of course you were. The expression on their face was just an unexpected perk.

But it's still a lot of fun.

It was great and disappointing at the same time. If you've been following the MCU movies all along it is the end of an era though. I won't go into specifics so I don't spoil it for anyone who have seen it, but I do recommend the movie.
