"Wise Guy Dave"

Snooping through the leather at the bike show this year I came across this set of "half chaps" and instantly thought of "WGD". I laughed out loud upon seeing them, remembering the thread about them and I had to tell the story to my buddy that was with me. At the same time I wondered how his family and friends have been doing since his passing .
I didn't actually know Dave but I felt like I did as he always from day one here, treated me well! I bought those chap off Dave just for fun.....knowing they would be way too short for my shins but that didn't matter, I think doing so entertained everyone involved in that thread. I still have them in the garage although one I cut up for the hardware.
Anyway, seeing them at the show provided me with a good memory and I hope that those close to him are doing well......

Oh dear ... I haven't thought of the half-chap thread in a good while. What a hoot!!

T-man, I am friends via Facebook with Dave's widow, Jan.

She is doing quite well, considering her loss and the great financial burden of Dave's illness. Their kids and grandkids are also well.

Jan is as upbeat, warm, and filled with trust in God as ever.

If you like, I'll let her know that some VR friends asked about her. I think she'd enjoy hearing it.

That's one funny thread.
Thanks for the link.

I can head East or West, it doesn't matter as long as it's on 2 wheels.

WGD's surprise visit to Yankee Rally 2008

First time I met Dave

Many years later he and Jan spent a day with us on my boat out on the big pond.

Glad we were able to scratch ocean fishing off his bucket list.

Dave is missed. Left this world way too soon. He was a kindred spirit to me. The guy I wish I could let loose and be. I never met him in person but we chatted a lot on FB messenger. Good guy that life tossed one too many hardships.

Just an odd note, he lived on a lake I used to fish when I was in the Air Force.

nice post...Dave was just another one of the many special people I had the pleasure to meet, rally and ride with. And like all of the other VOL family no longer with us, maybe gone but never forgotten.

Whats the big hurry...slow down and enjoy the ride!
