Penny for your thoughts

Hey everyone finally made an account after spending days going through all the forums. Bought a 2001 volusia from someone that didn’t know much about it, has k&n filter and cobra drags. Ran like **** when I bought it so ordered the dyno jet, cleaned carb, installed the 155 main, dj needle on 3rd notch /dj spring, new oem pilot, and tried 3.5turns out. having trouble with it running rich and bogging at full throttle. It picks up great but then just nosedives like it’s starving for something. Should I change the pilot jet? Some people said the kit was made to work with the oem? And should I switch to the uni filter on the carb? Don’t wanna go back to stock cuz I want her to scream but just seems like it’s tricky and different for each bike. Any help would be appreciated 🤘🤘

A long time ago, a former member named Briman came up with a handy carb tuning matrix.

https://www.volusiariders.com/70-jet...ng-matrix.html

The down side to doing all this fiddling with the carb is you are really only guessing on the state of tune. You could be rich, you could be lean. For all the effort, you're only going to pick up a couple horse power at most.

Scream and Volusia really don't belong in the same sentence using the context you have chosen.

The only screaming that will happen is you trying to sort this out on your Volusia.

That would be the proper context.

Visiting your local dispensary would be time better spent

Lol u guys are definitely right it has got me heated a couple times. feel Ill have to take the carb out 100 more times before I finally drop it off somewhere to get fixed 😂 I checked out the matrix on it and will buy the pilot according, do you think I need more airflow then the k&n? Read someone put the uni filter on and it fixed his problem,
