Question Exhaust questions

When I got this 2001 VL800 a couple weeks ago it came without mufflers. Extremely loud of course. Iíve been looking at slip on mufflers and noticed there is no provision for the cross tie-in from one pipe to the other. Do I have to buy new header pipes to go with the new mufflers if I donít go with stock? Is there a good way to plug it on the top pipe?
I am really on a tight budget currently and am hoping to just get slip-ones for now.

Thoughts and or suggestions sought.

Thank you for your help.

There are no slip on mufflers for the C50. If you want to change the exhaust, you have to.do the whole thing.

A good way to put something on would be to buy a used set of 05' or older HD Sportster mufflers (they can be had for cheap). You will need to make a "sleeve" to fit the pipe into the muffler as the HD is larger than that skinny azz Vol header pipe. The outer dressing on the header pipe will match the outer of the HD muffler however. Make sure you use the hanger muffler as the top one and then make a small plate to connect the two mufflers......

A little steel, a little work and you've got a decent looking setup that is louder than stock but still quiet. Want more "sound" ? Drive a 1" steel rod thru the muffler, end to end, and you've got some decent sound. All for just a few bucks.

Lead, or follow, but just stay out of my way.

Where did I see the video about drilling 4 3/8" holes and 4 3/16" holes in the end caps of a C50 mufflers?

That's the honest abe mod.

I can head East or West, it doesn't matter as long as it's on 2 wheels.

I think the honest abe mod includes removing the baffles, the mod I am talking about just has 8 holes drilled in the muffler end cap.
I did find the youtube video about the mod.

2006 fuel injected C50 exhaust question

OK. Now I am considering a complete Vance & Hines system, either the staggered slash, or Cruzers.
If I don't mess with the intake side of the engine would I have to add a fuel processor?

Do you want a LOT of noise? Both those exhausts are pretty loud from my experience (riding behind a bike that had them).
