I'd say helmets protecting your head isn't exactly a government cover up. It's basic logic.

Put a helmet on and free fall to the ground. Now, take it off and do it again. Once your headache goes away from the second test we can revisit that idea.

In this age of commonsense and knowledge, if someone chooses not to wear a helmet because they want to look like a Harley rider while riding a Jap bike then what can you say? Think of it. There are people that still believe in deities and number 45. There is absolutely nothing that you can say that will change their minds. The macho image of riding without a helmet is a big part of their ego. There is however one thing that always changes their mind; a bad crash. This changes their mind because they are either dead or their mind is scrambled for the rest of their lives and we end up paying for their lifetime of care in the form of Medicaid from our taxes.

How about I handle my business and you handle yours?

No attitude there, but if I want to ride with or without a helmet that's my business.
I can't stand the "Well, my insurance rates go up because you're more likely..."
No.
My insurance rates go up every time a triple extra large, fat ****, roly poly eats a super size cheeseburger and fry instead of a salad and somehow we don't have "fat police" telling us what we can and cannot eat.

Cigarettes. Big tobacco has known for DECADES that it's dangerous and addictive. They are campaigns against them but it isn't illegal.

I was pinned under my dirt bike when I was 15. I took a jump poorly, I landed like ****, the bike landed on top of me. I was wearing shorts. I listened to the slow bacon-esq sizzle of my thigh from the exhaust until spectators could run up and pull the bike off me. 20 years later and my thigh still looks like hamburger.

I still go out in shorts sometimes, but 98% of the time I wear jeans.

I barrel rolled my first Suzuki. I have a scar on my arm where a piece of the windshield went in.

I'm not Billy Bad-ass over here, but don't wish an accident on someone thinking it will change their perspective, because it won't.
I'm still going to do just what I want to do.

I have an '08 C50.
Everyone makes me ride at the back because of my Morton Violators.
Longest ride: 1241 miles in 20 hours 15 minutes

Interested in a replacement gas tank, in black, but I'm cheap

I hate wearing a helmet.
I'd bet if someone/something could say you'd never have an accident, or catch a hard shelled bug in the forehead, most of us wouldn't wear one.
But that hasn't happened yet.

I wear one only because I feel that it's the smart thing to do.

When I first started riding in my early 20's, I'd come across guys at work who just got a bike, and they felt the need for my approval.

The conversation usually went:
Nice bike. Do you realize your chain is about to come off?
Oh, and where's your helmet?

You don't have one?

Tell you what, if I see you down, and you weren't wearing one, I'm not stopping, because I figure you didn't care anyways.

It usually wasn't more than a few days before they'd come to me showing off their new helmet.

To each their own.

I went down once all by myself.
It was night, and I hit some sand while turning onto an on ramp.
Maybe 20 MPH?
The bike went down in a split second.

I was wearing a cheap 3/4 with a snap on face shield.
The face shield was destroyed.
That would've been my face.

To this date, I still don't have a pretty face, but without that face shield, it would be much worse.

Just wait until the swelling goes down and my face looks like grandma's titties!

(Not that I ever saw grandma's titties)
