I'm afraid it will only make things worse.

A second opinion is in the works.
I suppose the PT before the operation is to build up the muscles which will help you come through the replacement surgery with less trauma and will get you down the road to post-surgery therapy that much faster.

Second opinions are definitely good.

Good luck!

No. What this is is the insurance people grasping at every straw before deciding to look at the real issue, whatever that is.
The doctor, who is actually a NP, says it could be osteoarthritis. I'm not a doctor, but I don't think PT is gonna fix that.
What do I know?

But in order to get on a bike, I have to grab my pant leg by the front and literally lift my leg over the seat.
Oh yeah, I remember when this was me.

My last hurrah before going in for surgery was a 1-week bike trip to the coast of Maine. I'd ride to our destination, then go these painful gyrations to dismount, and then pull a folding cane out of my luggage. Got me some stares. But I could ride without pain. Go figure.

Good luck with everything, Joe, and don't be afraid to seek a second opinion.

Thank you.
My Dad has offered to hook me up with his DOCTOR, you know, the ones people with money get to see.
I'm just waiting to hear back from him.
In the meantime, this pain is hell. It's almost (almost) enough to get me back on my alcoholic road to hell again.

Sorry to hear that Joe. Maybe they can give you an upgrade? Something that will let you jump 100 feet in the air? That's be cool.

I'm hoping they can make my right leg a little longer, for those stop lights and such.

Thanks to the .gov, and big pharm getting everyone hooked on opiates, doctors can no longer fax, nor phone in pain prescriptions.
One has to physically go to a doctor to get the script, then physically go to the pharmacy.
Now that they know I'm really suffering here, they'll give me something for the pain.
Unfortunately the doc I saw that was able to order the MRI's, is 150 mi away.

Oh well, bike trip tomorrow I think.
