I see a lot of discussion about replacing the spotlight lamps with tractor bulbs and similar products. Those apparently require some specific mods I really don't want to do. Is there a Silverstar or other high intensity bulb that is a direct replacement? I've tried Batteries Plus, O'Reilly's and Advanced with no success.
Check out this thread. Replaced mine with these and a LED headlight bulb and I’m pretty happy with it. Keep in mind that the factory bulbs are rated at 25W each so if you start going higher in wattage it may potentially overheat your ignition switch and give you issues because the wiring for the driving lights runs through the ignition switch if it came from the dealer as an add on. If you already have them on a separate relay then you should be good, if not then watch the wattage.
This is the main reason I went LED.
