Crash Bar Chaps (a.k.a. Desert Dawgs)

I just received my crash bar chaps from a manufacturer in Calgary yesterday and tried them on this morning in the garage. (still winter here) I was wondering if anyone experienced a real difference in gas mileage with these things on? It looks like they would cause real wind drag cause they stick out so far.

I haven't noticed a real difference in gas mileage with mine, but I did get into a pretty good headwind one day and I think they slowed me down some. It's worth it for the cold weather though, the way they keep the air off your lower legs and feet. As soon as our temps get back up into the 50s again, off they come. I only bought mine to make the cold days tolerable. They look ok, but not something I'd want to leave on the bike. I bet they really help keep your feet dry in the rain, and may carry them with me on long trips.
