I dropped her. I dropped my motorcycle. More specifically, I had an ultra low speed low side. Like all but stopped, planning to stop, in order to figure the best path into a parking spot. We were in a grass field. I misjudge or simply misplaced my right foot just as we were ceasing all forward motion, and the bike leaned farther than I could hold on grass. My right foot went under the saddlebag mounts and guards, taking the majority of the weight of the bike, myself, and to my horror in the moment, my wife.
My wife was free of the bike, and just scratched from the post of my backrest. I pulled myself from under the bike and suddenly there was a crowd of people there to help. Event staff from the festival were very well meaning, but they nearly rolled the bike completely over when trying to upright it. The biker that stopped to help was great, but not a fan of a kickstand with out a helper wing to catch. The EMS at the festival were great, but I was far more hurt in my pride than anywhere else.
Or so I thought.
My wife and I walked around the festival for a little while, but I was unable to walk the pain off. So we called our son in law to come and ferry the bike home, and my parents, who live nearby to take me to the Medical Express place.
In retrospect, walking on a fractured ankle for an hour or so at a fairground probably was not one my better decisions, but in my defense, even now after seeing the x-ray, the mildness of the pain makes it hard to believe it happened.
The examining Dr. credited my boots for the mildness of the fracture and the pain.
On a sunny morning I drop my bike less than a week after getting caught in a rainstorm for twenty miles, where I had absolutely zero issues. I think that is irony, or maybe just unfortunate.
Anyway, I am off to elevate my ankle, and wait until I see the orthopedist tomorrow morning.
PS; At a quick glance there is no damage to the bike, my ankle took most of the impact to the ground.:biglaugh:
