Down but not out...

Well, I don't have to worry about that intermittent misfire anymore I was dealing with the last week or so.. Taking it for a ride late afternoon and taking some twisties to a job assignment.. Lost it in a tight downhill sweeper to the right. Grabbed too much front brake and the front wheel washed out beneath me. Went down on the right side... Sliding near the edge of the road. Right side crash bar saved me and I slid off the bike to the right. Bike continued to slid away from me on its right side across my lane and the opposite lane and then slammed violently into the guardrail. It slammed and high sided upright and twisted around and slammed hard on the left side. Stopped in that other lane, headlight facing me.

Passerby stopped and came to my aid. I have bumps, bruises, and road rash on elbows, wrists, forearms, hands, and one huge spot on my right hip where my pants were torn. Passerby helped me lift the bike up and get it off the road. Left it there and he took me back to my RV a few miles down the road. I'm living in temporary quarters as I just moved to Austin last month. I drove my truck with ramps back to the scene by myself. Front fender cracked, rear fender cracked, forks are hard to turn, running boards are bent up, brake pedal is bent, shifter is bent. Crash bars worked as intended. Bent in towards and against the motor. Got it in Neutral and started it up. Maneuvered it enough to ride it up the ramps and into the truck bed. I'll take it to a shop tomorrow. Same shop that was going to get it to diagnose the misfire... My son and my sisters are urging me to park the bike lifestyle. Ehhh, probably not yet.

Down but not out...

Sorry to hear about this, but I'm so glad you walked away with minor injuries. Don't be a pig headed fill like me, go see a doctor and get checked out.

Thankfully, you'll be able to ride again. The potential is always much worse. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery.

Glad you are doing okay, I have been down a few times, never on road but a hard crash is a hard crash. Last one I did I was going way too fast for the dirt road I was riding on with my old dirt bike and didn't see a rut in the road caused by a rain storm days earlier that cut a night foot wide rut in the road. hit it at 40+ tossed me over the bars like a rag doll. thank goodness for proper gear, it saved both our lives. Glad your are around to ride another day..take care healing up...

Anybody need a nice 3 piece set of Mustang seats? C50c wheels with 3 month old ME888 wide white walls? DJ Drive, factory windshield, factory light bar with 4411 sealed beams? Got the tins or plastics of the Pearl white with ghost flame set up. Cobra passenger boards, im afraid the saddlebags are not in good shape anymore. They took a beating yesterday. HMU if you're interested.

Glad your doing fine with only some minor bumps and bruises. Not only your crashbar worked as designed, your experience helped in this scenario, could've been worst. Salute to the person who stopped to help. Get checked out, so you can heal up for another ride. D.
