The "Sunday News" at VR isn't good!

Just hit the "new messages since last time" button. Not good news for a Sunday morning... or any morning! Of the list of topics, the bulk of them were about riders down, injured, or killed!

PLEASE be careful out there. As you ride, plan on every possibility. That car WILL turn in front of you... or run that stop sign. There WILL be gravel in that curve. I hope and wish all of our riding is blue skies, sunshine, and perfect roads. But we all know better. I won't even mention protective gear, as I'm guilty myself of not always wearing it. Oops... I mentioned it.

Okay...... off my soapbox. Now.. let's all go out in search of those blue skies, sunshine, and perfect roads!! I know I will! That's what keeps many of us "living"!

I agree. Between VR on weekends lately, and the local news (a couple bike-related incidents each weekend also, including this one), it's becoming a bit scary. It happens every summer, but it doesn't make it any easier to read about.

Remember, when you're on the road, assume thatTHEY ARE ALL OUT TO GET YOUand you won't be far from the truth! Anticipate and plan your corresponding reactions constantly.

Reminds me of one of the lessons they crammed in our heads at the Basic Rider Course. We must learn to "SEE":

Search (What bad thing could happen ahead?)
Evaluate (What would I do to avoid that bad thing?)
Execute (Be ready to respond and execute the needed evasive manuever).

Using "SEE" is becoming habit forming for me (even when in my cage now). And it is one habit I won't have to break later down the road

In other words we have to stay on our toes and think ahead. That is also the advice I keep reading from you experienced riders out there.

I couldn't agree more with what's been said so far by SMOhio, Queen, & Sarch.
Some times there's just no way out of a bad situation but doing like Sarch does, can and will help keep us alive long enough to die of old age instead of being run down or whatever.
People please be carefull out there.
